i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.
I too was another one born into it, until the real truth hit me at age 17. I left and never looked back since. But if it wasn't for the experiences and feelings, both positive and negative, that this cult caused, I would not be the person that I am today, if I'd not been brought up JW. It will always be with you; for better or worse.

If it took 3 1/2 years for Satan to get booted out of heaven - how long is Armageddon going to take, when JC got to catch and bind him for 1000 years. Might stretch out to a good decade after it starts - that'll be a good party.

Excuse the bar room psychology - but the JW belief is resurrection for all who die before Armageddon (except suicide).
Someone who is suffering from severe depression and trying to hold together his marriage, his family, probably his job, his self-esteem within the strict confines of the JW doctrine and the scrutiny of the KH, could this be a way out. The thought of not being good enough to get thru' Armageddon and loving your family so much that you are willing to forgo the chance yourself, by killing yourself and your loved ones. At least your family will see God's New Order and *short-cut* the terrible end of this system of things - even if you won't.
These people need help.

my wife and i were discussing the date of 1975 earlier this week and she basically was of the opinion that the individuals who thought the end was coming in that year came up with the date based on their incorrect assesment of published information.
i replied that would it make sense for thousands of people across the continent to sell their homes and all of their valued possesions if they really had the slightest doubt that armageddon was not coming in 1975. she did'nt have an answer for that retort but still she insisted that somehow these people must have made a mistake in their judgement.
so for those of you who may have lived through the 1975 fiasco and those who have in-depth knowledge about the events that took place in that year maybe you can answer a few questions for me.. how widespread was the belief that 1975 was the year of armageddon?
Well my parents moved our family out to the wilds of North Wales in 1974, because that was where the need was greatest. Coincidence?
When I was a kid, I also seem to remember a WT picture of a train, labelled this 'system of things', heading towards a crash, labelled 1975.

If one was removed form the association of these Christians for serious wrongdoing, such former members were now banned from this form of worship, “not even sharing a meal with such a one”. Also you would not greet a former unrepentant member with the “holy kiss”, “not even saying a greeting”.
Is this where the justification for DFing comes from?

so my mom calls me up today here at work and asks me how things are going.
she goes on about the usual stuff, latest gossip, and other things i don't really care to hear about.
she asked me how i am coming along in my "studies" with my assigned elder.
But if you appeal to your mother's affection by being a good and caring son, she will have little defense against the greatest weapon you have: LOVE.
This is much easier said than done. My parents have been telling me for the last 30 years that Armageddon will be here tomorrow. They say it with such conviction. Their relationship with Jehovah is all that matters to them. To cultivate such a family relationship with one spiritually dead son would impede their own relationship with Jehovah, so why should they leave themselves vulnerable to a DA'd son?
It takes a even playing field to cultivate true family love, very difficult to do when your parents sanctimoniously patronise the very essence of who you are as a person. And how it can hurt! If my beliefs, views, lifestyle are up for criticism and ridicule, by the same token so is their Chistian faith. The difference is I have a lot more ammo than they do!
They have made their choice to squander their life on this impossible dream. I feel no obligation to cosset this choice.

Thank you for your concern. I maybe a *Newbie* to the forum, but I am *Emperor Class* with regards to this destructive, tyrannical sect. Your loving God, Jehova(h/q) has screwed my family good and proper. That is no myth.
I just hope that all this doesn't backfire, I mean, everlasting life with this cruel, murderous deity. At least I have Armageddon to look forward to ! lol
