OH WHAT EVER, FINE THEN, Me and BBNekos GF use 100% of our brains to do freakyass crap! lol. Good question though, if we use 100% of our brains, how come we are capable of endless memory banks? Im no brain surgeon, but I am a computer wiz, and I know that when My hard drives in 100% capacity, I aint putting no more in there... GOTTA BE ROOM FOR SOMETHIN UP THERE! lol. Just kiddin. But perhaps the part that does contain psychic stuff is a percentage of that "100%" thats used. Perhaps its 10%?lol At any rate, it was just one of many personal theorys as to whats really goin on. Like the site says only 10% of the brain has actually been mapped. That leaves another 90% left to figure out.

We don't have endless memories - we forget things all the time. Ask anyone to name of all their elementary school teachers, for example. They were there in a classroom with this person for months and months, wouldn't this be something that people would remember if they could? We may remember little significant snippets of our life along the way, but for the most part memories are being lost all the time by us all. I just wish I could pick and choose which ones I wanted to keep, and which I wanted lost forever, with the brain space reclaimed.

I'm not sure how this would be any evidence for any type of psi or deja vu claim. You admit that this was something you regularly did and your mother did not approve. The end result was not even what you dreamt. Am I missing something? This does not even count as a hit in the world of ESP.
It's like saying - I had a dream that the airplane I was going to fly on was going to crash. I cancelled my ticket and the plane left without me. It didn't crash - but it would have if I had not cancelled my flight.
Fellow posters/lurkers: This is a classic case of psychology in action - forgetting the misses and rembering only (and even manufacturing) the hits.
Wow. Few times have i come across such stubborn arogance based on NOTHING.It's almost like you fear it to be true. YOU have not had an experience to work form so YOU are in a weak position to disprove or disclaim it. And i had no idea you were the authority on what 'counts' as an hit in the world of ESP. I want to go to that world anyway. Sounds cool.
It is a completely different feeling to say to yourself' i know that this is wrong so i'll stop before mom catches me' and 'i already KNOW what is going to happen, i REMEBER it happening already.' I know because i have had both experiences. You haven't so are not in a good position to speak with authoraty about it and certainly shouldn't think so much of yourself to lecture the other members of the board about your OPINION as fact.
I do remember my misses. I have had two in all the tens of tests i have taken. That isn't phycology. I didn't make it up. It was witnessed by people. I am saddened by the lack of open-mindedness to even admit there may be a possibility of existance.

Ever seen a hypnotist hypnotise one of your friends into beleiving he is rikki martin? Phenomena such as hypnotism show there is alot of mystery about the human brain. I already know we use 100% of our brain and that the 10% is an urban legend, but the fact is we do no understand it all. The brain is very porrly understood. We can't even replicate the brain power of a cockaroach as of yet, although we are close. We understand in general which side of the brain generally controls certain body functions, and which areas are generally responsible for what. But like I said, there is a lot of mystery.
As for forgetting things all the time, I dont know about you but if presentrd with a day I had, perhaps it was filmed, when I was like 5 years old, Ill remember everything all over again. All I needed was a reminder. I Went back to south america when i was about 14, and I suddenyl a flash of memories came flooding back to me. I hadnt visited colombia since I was 4 years old.
I really dont think we forget much of anything. i think it's all there, but some things are harder to retrieve than others, and it gets harder as you age. Under hypnotism you can remember remarkable details about past experiences you never knew were in you.

bboysGF,
I was just razzin Stiffler a bit - a little hazing if you like, just like i razzed his older brother when he joined up earlier. I think he's cool enough to handle it.
I am not ignorant when it comes to psi claims. I would never post a critical message on this topic if I was. The fact is that I have had strange things happen in my life - including deja vu, visions, premonitions, etc. I used to believe in psi claims. But I found with my research that when these claims are actually put to the test they fail miserably. I just have a different explanation - a scientifically accepted explanation - for my experiences.
I have since stopped believing in psi because I find no evidence for it. I recognize that the brain is a tricky organ and we easily fool ourselves (magic tricks, mistaken memory, etc.). No matter how loud you proclaim it, there is no evidence for psi phenomenon. When there is evidence then I will believe - not before (extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence). There is already an acceptable explanation in human psychology. That phenomenon is real and can be replicated, unlike psi claims (I apologize if that sounds arrogant, but I can only deal with facts). The only thing psi claims have going for them are exciting anecdotes - similar to UFO and bigfoot sightings.
I still think you are a swell person anyways. We probably agree on a great many other things. This simply is not one of them.
Regards,
rem

Folks,
I have not read this entire thread, but I have to come down on the side of rem on this one. I read the original reports of Houdinni in the Scientific American, where he offered a large prize to anyone that could demonstrate telekinesis. No one could. I have seen a video, called Secrets of the Psychics with James Randi. This one hour video demonstrated that of all the cases he studied, they could all be explained by magic tricks or they simply didn't work at all. Like Houdinne, Randi has offered a large prize, one million dollars, for anyone who can prove they have psychic powers. After several years, no one has been able to prove it.
bboy,
You say that your girl friend has the gift, but doesn't want to prove it, because it gives her anxiety going throught the process. I would think that even a large dose of anxiety would be worth a million dollars. Your example, with her drawings, seems much like what Randi ran into on several occasions. People make claims, but won't put it to the test. Myself and someone else offered to conduct an experiment, but you stated that your girl friend didn't want to participate. So where does that leave us?

Funkyderek,
I do not know you. In fact, I am very new to this board and don't know anyone except for Bill Bowen. Yesterday I came across this thread and found it entertaining. I thought about you yesterday, just to see if I could "sense" anything about you. What I came up with was a hodge podge of names and words. They mean nothing to me....what about you?

Very good, BobsGirl. I'm impressed with your ability to use search engines. Unfortunately, I have a common name and several of those items relate to my namesakes, not to me. But nice try, anyway!
