    OFG,

For the most part I am for legalized pot IF it is controlled. But pot isn't the benign weed that you are trying to make it out to be. It does affect some people differently than others. Some do get uncontrolled paranoia. Some vomit, some have seizures. Some drop out and are no longer productive members of society. I have a couple of g/f that have done this. They smoke constantly and then wonder why they can't make it in the real world. Both have applied for public assistance claiming depression. The truth is, their depression is exacerbated by the weed.

Again, I have no problems with weed for medicinal purposes as long as the person isn't self medicating and has gotten the prescription from a physician.

yes, if you read through this thread you'll note that I have said in may effect different people in different ways, like alchohol, and anti-deppresants...

I not saying that cannabis is a better alternative... I'm just saying, when will our government pull their head out of there asses and fund real scientific studies?

As far as addictions are concerned... I got mine... If I were made to give up all my addictions but one, I'd have to say the one I would keep is coffee... Don't bother me with anything before I have my coffee, damn it ! (hence, I don't wake & bake)... Gee, if you wan't to throw the internet(this board) into the mix; It would be a hard choice...

I totally don't know what this thread started out as because I haven't read all the way through it....that being said...

Alot of herbs sold in health food stores can have the same effect on people. I've had herbal remedies from doc's that have made me sicker than pot ever has. The same can be said of alcohol.

I think it comes down to the "forbidden" nature of pot in US. The US has some of the stupidest, prudish ideas and cultural impressions about many things that they consider taboo - sexual repression is a big one. Other cultures and countries are more open to things like sex, and pot and they don't seem to have the abuse record that other places like the US have.

I for one LOVE pot. I don't have to "wake and bake" (LOL!) but like OFG I need my coffee in the morning. I feel I'm a responsible pot smoker and I for one think pot should be legalized. People are going to smoke it regardless if it's legal or not. Just like prohibition. People still drank, probably more so because being the human animals we are there's something even more enjoyable about doing something that is "wrong" - "bad" - or (gasp!) "ILLEGAL!"

pot has helped me lose so many JW inhibitions that have held me back in certain areas. It's really helped me chill about a lot of things that I don't need to worry about any longer. so for that I'm grateful that great god Jehovah created POT for me!! he he he.

Um, I'm sure that the Great God Jehovah created pot for all of us.

Good for you. I used to LOVE pot too. I no longer do. And I've been involved in the culture for long enough to see what it does to people after long term use. It ain't pretty.

I am for legalization IF it is controlled.

coming from a family of people who have abused alcohol and other drugs I know the "unprettiness" also. it's about personal responsibility IMO.

fair enough. I just have issues with who gets to define "controlled."

that oreo remark reminds me of the last epiphany I had when I smoked. good god it was a monumental thought when I was high and the next day it was just something I laughed at for a good long time!

    good times.....
