Poor JW wives... they're raised to be goody two shoes, then their husbands get bored with them, and go find a topless bimbo for a little excitement! The sisters are unwitting victims too in this unhealthy, unnatural religion.

It's been my experience and that of other sisters I knew, that plenty of JW husbands were (and likely still are) often very prudish, inept lovers.

For Sinis and other men who blame this poor brother's wife: plenty of husbands with very sexy, very amorous wives, have porn and stripper addictions. Some men just like fantasy better than reality. They could have Pamela Anderson for a play toy and they'd still j**k off to porn and sneak to see the strippers. You cannot always blame the wife or S.O.

When I was a teen-age boy I confessed to my father (an elder) that I was struggling with masturbation.

His response?

"Half the men in the world masturbate and the other half are liars"

End of the subject for me.

It's personal. But the watchtower's emphasis on this sort of thing has a powerful effect on who remain in charge.

Sincere, honest men will confess their "sins". They will be relieved of their responsibility.

Hypocrites who are dishonest will overcompensate for their secret sins by dealing harshly with others who have similar problems.

Mostly you are left with freaks of nature who really don't have sexual problems because they don't have much testosterone. These are women trapped in women's bodies.

Or you have some who have spartan self control. They are masters of THEIR domain AND everyone elses.

One JW Elder commented to me that it is strange that there are commands NOT to have sex with animals which is naturally repugnant and considered a depraved behavior, but nothing is ever said specifically about masturbation.

Was bestiality that big of a problem that it actually eclipsed the widespread practice of self excitement? All the more reason to question the mental stability of those middle eastern religion inventors.

It is interesting to look at the surveys of the number of adults who use pornography. Especially, in the fundy sects that have stringent rules similar to JW's.

Then you read articles that say that masturbation helps prevent prostate cancer. There is a need to empty the tubes at a frequency that most wives would not be unwilling to accommodate.

Religion is very irrational when it comes to sex.

Reproduction is the most important project for all species.

Certainly we can't assume anytime one spouse has sex outside the marriage or seeks a stripper/dancer that it means it's because he's not getting what he wants from his/her partner.

But sometimes it is.

I think Sinis is only remarking that the JW religion is one that so regulates sexuality that it can result it sexually repressed men and women. (Don't you dare go down on her! Is it not obvious that this is a perverted, unclean practice?!!) It can be so regulated and "appropriate" that it's not that fun anymore. And, by the way, it works both ways. There are PLENTY of wives who seek sex outside the marriage.

There isn't one scenario here. There are lots of them. And I submit that being in that organization can in fact lead to great sexual repression that often leads spouses to look for attention elsewhere.

Confession, I know plenty of women, that aren't JW's, whose husbands or boyfriends do the porn/stripper/masturbation thing. And in their cases, it's got nothing to do with religion. My ex, but raised and still a jw, husband was so prudish and straight laced it was sickening. He wanted me to look and act "respectable." I wasn't raised a JW, so this just didn't sit right with me.

There isn't one scenario here. There are lots of them.

There are a variety of reasons why spouses look for attention elsewhere. Among them: one or both involved being controlled by a puritanical religious order.

Sorry, sinis, it's just not your day. If sex, food and sleep are the only things programmed into a man's brain, then why do they bother to marry at all? All that's strictly necessary is a job for food, a bed for sleep, and a prostitute for sex. That's as sexist as saying the only things women are programmed for are companionship, commitment and desire for children. I've heard deliquent teenagers and petty criminals excuse their bad behavior by saying, "sorry, but that's just the way I am." It's a cop-out and blames others for their own behavior. Men and women are more complicated than just a few programmed impulses.
