There's something I'd really like to know. I remember when I was a teenager, the talks about masturbation made me feel like I was the only one doing it and it made me feel bad. Now I'm still wondering if I was really the only one in the congregation (in the district?) who could not refrain from doing it. I mean, telling a teenager not to masturbate is like telling him not to breathe, right? Well not only teenagers... Are most teen JWs really able to abstain from masturbation or is it just another lie???

Dave_T mate, if a teenager doesnt do it, theres something seriously psychologically wrong! Its a healthy normal part of growing up with lots of research being done about its benefits. People are now being encouraged to do it more. I read something about it in my Men's Health mag, if I can find it I'll post it. I seriously doubt if theres too many teenagers that could resist it. I remember making it a goal, that after I got baptised I would try to stop... I think I made it for 4 days!!! hahaha! We're getting personal now hey!

Oh god - I did that too - in fact I kept a log, which I probably still have, of how often I failed!!! I would say its not half as much fun now that its not forbidden....

I work on an oil and gas exploration vessel in the UAE, theres a crew of 27 including 2 chefs, so we get fed really well. Only 1 week to go before Im off though, cant wait!

Norm actually I see nothing wrong with the advice in those articles. The veiw that was written in those articles are Gods veiw on sex. He doesnt want his worshippers to engage in premarital sex. They even go so far as to help young ones about the dangers of putting themselves in a situation that will lead to such an activity ( Fondeling, oral...ect...) I think it is good advice, something that I taught my oldest from her youth up and Im proud to say she is 18 and not Married and hasent had sex and is a well rounded young woman of society, and on top of that, she is pleasing Jesus and God.

Chuckie, I seriously doubt most teenagers could resist it too. Guilt is such an effective way to control people. Almost as effective as fear.
Crumpet, I did the log thing too. It turned out to be completely useless. lol. I know what you mean. Now it's hard to find something forbidden to do. But it's still a lot of fun. -

Of course, theres nothing anyone can do to prevent themselves from dreaming about a certain topic. I could just imagine though, the society coming out with some stupid thoughts on the matter as to how to prevent them from occuring, and feeling it their right to tell people that they shouldnt be dreaming in such a way... They do it about everything else, so why not peoples sub-conscience!
I wouldn't put it past them to come up with a rule on that one. I wonder what scriptural reason they'd try to apply to it though? I know there are several dreams mentioned in the bible, but can't recall any wet ones. If they thought people were having wet dreams, they'd probably accuse them of having unclean thoughts just before they went to sleep, and counsel them on that. They've been experts at mind control for years, so thought control isn't a big step for them.

Chuckie - that is so cool! And 2 chefs - maybe you can get some of the crew on board (if you'll excuse the pun) with this - or would that be too gross - like do you have your own rooms on that rig? We could ask the chefs to rustle up tasty morsels and unusual specialities all in the name of the Rich Foods Wet Dreams Experiment (I think thats a better name actually as thats what we are specifically dealing with - not masturbation,although who knows for a future experiment).
