SirNose! It is not time to take your mask off yet, if you will be left in a vulnerable position, as you say.

Bide your time. Build your resources. Do what you must do to be as financially independent as possible and keep smiling nicely, while secretly hatching your escape plan!

    Be cool!

You're already mentally free of the bOrg, you've just got to work on the physical.

If you want to keep your family as your friends, even when you have left the bOrg, never say anything bad about their masters, and just smile sweetly when they espouse loving concern over your lack of spirituality.

    Good luck and be COOL!

So, Bible Highlights huh? That makes you an ms? or elder? just checking.....hope that you didnt stress yourself too much with your plan. After the asian tsunami, i prayed, not just for the brothers and sisters but for everyone affected. Drew a few comments.

Depends on what you want to accomplish here. You could get a quick 666 tatooed on your forehead in the minds of the elders for what you suggest - or depending on how strongly you suggest these things - just a little talking to.

I say push the envelope only as much as you can tolerate the reaction.

    Good luck to you

if sirnose is really 21, most likely a MS. My hubby had those parts all the time. I knew a MS once who used his highlights to blast the kh for not showing love to anyone like Jesus said they should. We all knew he specifically meant the elders! He pointed out that it could be the reason we had no new converts in years because we were known for being unloving. It was the best talk I had ever heard from the platform.

Immediately afterwood an obviously stunned elder took the platform and admonished him for going outside the outline given by the society. And reminded him that he cannot counsel anyone without the elders permission and his talk should not be used for that purpose. After the talk I gave him the biggest hug you can imagine and said brother I loved that talk - God bless you, we really needed to hear that! The brothers stared at me but I didn't care because that following Sunday was my last meeting anyway. Lilly

Well, real quick before I have to get ready for work:

I don't have a concealable tape recorder. Sorry gang. As for how much the boat is going to be rocked...well, let's just say this: I am going to say that people who voluntarily feed others or make it their work to take care of others should be praised. I'm using Proverbs 22:9 for that. Innocent enough, I should think. It'll be backed up by a reference to James 1:27. The second point will be based on Proverbs 24:5, 6. I'm going to say that those who have taken time to get a good education (won't say the word "higher") are to be commended because education teaches you how to think logically as well as learn a skill, and mental strength is valuable. When competent people take the lead, we are blessed, when incompetence leads, etc.

I punched up a few lines last night in about 45 minutes and I'm at work all day so I don't have time to change anything. I'm thinking that I MIGHT get some clucks of disapproval from people, but I have a few things to back that up. The scriptures say that anyone is blessed who shares their food, and that a multitude of wise counselors is good, so I'm going to run with my interpretation.

After this talk, I'm not going to push the envelope night after night...but I feel like testing the waters and tonight shall be it. I mean, in other talks I speak heavily in praise of Jesus (not mentioning the Father), and I haven't gotten talked to yet. I need to know where the roof is before I break on through to the other side.

I am going to espouse a pro-soup kitchen/salvation army/homeless shelter view. Right on the heels of that, I'm going to support (higher) education as a means of bettering ones' self.

Just make sure you've got some scriptures to back up your suggestions. Use the scriptures where Jesus fed the hungry or the scripture that showed the first century congregation supported charity by assigning seven brothers to distribute food to the needy:

(Acts 6:1-6) . . .Now in these days, when the disciples were increasing, a murmuring arose on the part of the Greek-speaking Jews against the Hebrew-speaking Jews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution. 2 So the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them and said: "It is not pleasing for us to leave the word of God to distribute [food] to tables. 3 So, brothers, search out for yourselves seven certified men from among YOU, full of spirit and wisdom, that we may appoint them over this necessary business; 4 but we shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word." 5 And the thing spoken was pleasing to the whole multitude, and they selected Stephen, a man full of faith and holy spirit, and Philip and Proch´o·rus and Ni·ca´nor and Ti´mon and Par´me·nas and Nic·o·la´us, a proselyte of Antioch; 6 and they placed them before the apostles, and, after having prayed, these laid their hands upon them.

What will I get: Insta-JC? Front of the hall talk? Dirty looks?

You won't get a JC, but you will almost certainly be spoken to afterwords about "going beyond" what the outline says.

Freetosee - I don’t think they can call a JC on you, you only stated what you understand from the bible and it is what your bible trained conscience agrees with. Oh wait, isn’t that apostasy? I guess the overall tone of your talk will be the decisive factor. Maybe not a JC, but your ministerial servant privileges might be questioned, which means no teaching assignments for a whole while.

If he has been emphasizing Jesus in his talks they have definitely caught on. After pushing the envelope back in the late 90's I was taken off platform duty for about 6 months. No parts for 6 months, which didn't bother me, I hated giving talks. Then about a month before they removed me I had a talk every week including the Instruction talk during the CO visit. I guess they needed more stuff on me.

SirNose586 - I'm using Proverbs 22:9 for that. Innocent enough, I should think. It'll be backed up by a reference to James 1:27.

Well that spells the end. The oral tradition has been to scrutinize anyone who is too comfortable with James, especially that verse because Ray Franz spent considerable time on the subject in C of C and the effect that the commentary of James had on the governing body.

That book and the commentary have been more trouble than the society can handle. They have been trying to remove it from the library for at least the last 10 years. CO and DO have been told to suspect anyway who makes reference to the book as trouble. Anyone who quotes some of the sage advise in the commentary will be dismissed out of hand and put in the CO's little black book.

    Dear Sir...,

couple things. Are you an MS? Is this talk a #2?

Also, if you are putting more emphasis on Jesus in some of your talks,...what is your belief towards Him?

    Good luck.
