Sure is more than one doubter on this Forum. How did so many get together? Amazing! I knew Lovely Lil was hunting a home and I guess she found it right here. Lil I don't see the need to give those 45 Bible chronology links here, you people are first class doubters; it would be a lot of work for naught. You are right about one thing, there aren't any Christians on this board, excepting me. You bunch of phonies are fooling yourselves. Yep I'll leave here but not with my tail between my legs. I'll be holding my nose because of the fragrance here. And LIL when you tell a story try to tell the truth, so far your record is not so good.
Good BYE to Dummy Land! Steam Psalm 50:5

My MILs worst nightmare, a nonJW
Steam,
The Miracle Wheat analogy makes perfect sense
He took regular wheat, marked it up 4 or 5 times and sold it as "Miracle Wheat"
Kind of like taking the bible, interpretting it his way, and reselling it as "The Truth"

He did make on error, he thought 1914 would wind it up. But before 1914 about 1904 I think; he began to doubt and tried to correct that date's interpretation. He brought out the info a Christian needs at the appropriate time.
*Sigh* So much like the dubs....an error is "food at the proper time".

Well Steam,
You obviously know a great deal of what CTR taught, far more I would think than any jw living.
I have no doubt that he was a sincere bible student who wanted to share his thoughts with others. I know he gave up a prosperous business to do just that. I know he didn't adhere to the concept of an organisation either, which sets him at odds with the present - day watchtower society, to whom the organisation seems to be just about everything.
However, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I am now very firmly back in the atheist camp that I left to become a jw, and it would take a lot to pull me out of it again. I have a good life now, far more content than I ever was as a jw, and have no desire, nor see any need to change it at this time.
regards
Linda

Russel wrote in the Watchtower January15, 1892: "The date of the close of that "battle" is definitely marked in scripture as October,1914. It is already in progress, dating from October,1874." Also in the July15,1894 Watchtower he said "1914 is not the date for the beginning but for the end." Russel NEVER had the truth.

steam,
Repeating Russell's teachings is NOT PROOF that they were correct. Many here including myself have looked into the so-called proofs and they do not hold up under scrutiny. You are right that as JW's we got a lot of things from Russell such as the 144,000, the date 1914, among many other things but that does not prove he was right on those points either.
I associated with Russellites a short time after leaving the tower but this time I asked for proof of what they were saying. I got none at all except quotes from Russell - I guess I am supposed to take the the word of a guy who I don't know and died 90 years ago? Yeah, just like I took the word of the WT organization?
The 2nd time around, I had my glasses on right and knew a lot more about the origins of Russell's teachings and spent over a year reading the bible on my own. It was easy to see that the BS groups are exactly like the organization I just came out of. All man made books and no bible.
No thanks, I'll stick to Jesus for my spiritual needs.

Since his death many truths have been changed
Truth doesn't change. What is true from the beginning is true to the end.
