alcohol does not make a person do what they would otherwise not do; it simply lowers the barriers to enable them to do what they think they can get away with.
I agree 100%, they were thinking about cheating before the alcohol or the alcohol wouldn't have made a difference. The betrayal is not the act but the thinking that they can get away with cheating.

its only my own perspective but I find it comforting to have trust and be trusted in a relationship...after 17 years I can honestly say I love my wife as much as I ever did..as I said ...just my own experience....
I could forgive her easily, but I would never trust her again. Because of the lack of trust jealousy would develop. Jealousy destroys more than just trust, so I would divorce her while we could still be friends.

Nope. Usually didn't care about them at all and it was mutual. But it never happened while I was committed to being monogamous with someone. Tempted yes, but a little voice kept saying to me, "how would you feel?".

I think much of this is just a generational and geographical cultural gap thing. I dont believe that people who chose with their partners to be monogamous forever and make that work are wrong. I think it is admirable. But for me - I'd have to marry superman to make that kind of agreement.

I'm just entering the spirit of debate. I havent had to forgive anyone yet. And yes I have been forgiven. It meant a lot to me and made me love even more deeply.
