I felt like it was a pro-Bush, pro-war propaganda piece. I left the theater irritated.

    Oh brother!

This movie totally kicks ass. The few against the many. The divided against the united. The weak against the strong. There are so many things to like about this movie that to focus on this as being a pro-Bush propaganda piece really illustrates a narrow-minded and myopic view of history.

Edited to add: I am going to go and see this in the IMAX format this weekend. This will be the first movie that I'll pay for a second viewing since The Liion King.

Crumpet, I will say that this movie is VERY moving. I went and saw it with some friends, and as we walked out of the theatre, we all agreed that our hearts were all pumping, and we were all ready to get in a fight with someone. I just find that interesting.

Also, you might enjoy the gratuitous boob scenes.

Thanks Richie - I shall keep an eye out for that. Its interesting that you say that about the fighting. I remember feeling the same thing when I came out of Ollie Stone's Natural Born Killers a few years back.

Thanks specially to Terry - I'm surer as long as the dialogue isnt as poor as Troy I'll enjoy it and of course I am a gamer and into sword play so it sounds perfect. I shall give my impressions when I have been!

That thought crossed my mind too! I thought the plot was weak. Didn't think that it had magnificent screen play it was so-so.

Yeah, George Bush and Halliburton staged the battle of Thermopylae 2480 years ago just to pump us up with nationalistic pride.

    Great insight. NOT.

What I found very meaningful was the last speech given by Leonidas that they fought to free men from mysticism and tyranny.

Of course this great speech was after he consulted the Oracle at Delphi, lol.

That's silly. It's what's happening today, not 2480 years ago. Heck, they are knocking on my door trying to get my daughters to enlist. Do you have any kids? You should hear the speech that the recruiters are giving! The movie is trying to show pride in war, death, "for Sparta!". My husband, who is veteran, thought that the guys were full of themselves. He said that they were haughty.

He said that they were haughty.

Maybe they were former JW elders.

I took myself to see it last Sunday.

Aside from pointing out that I am one hell of a fabulous date, I have to say it was an excellent movie that I fully intend to watch a few more times. I found the historical portion of it enthralling, the action fantastic and the boobies fabulous!

Crumpet, I like your avatar. The last one was good too. I don't know about the movie, I hope you enjoy it.

About the ex-Mr C, are you giving him a second chance?
