    Hi The Wanderer,

I don't mean to be blunt, but: "What is the meaning of life?"

There is none except to procreate and carry on the species. Please prove that there is more. I'm afraid you can't.

    Respectfully,

In all due respect to the wanderer, it's not atheism that needs questioned. For atheism does not purport to answer anything. It is precisely the admission that there is no evidence to support any other conclusion.

    Okay, Seeker4:

Thank you for your perspective on the matter. Regarding
the subject of God, I think the Watchtower's influence
probably did damage in that area.

The God of the Bible is not the same as the Watchtower's
    version of God.

From my own perspective on things ...

What does atheism say about life? Does
it take the "we are "recycled" into some-
    thing else approach?"

Well, I couldn't say that "atheism" says anything about it. Atheism, much like Christianity has many lines of belief. I'm sure some believe in reincarnation (if that was what you're asking), but I can really only answer for myself with any certainty. I don't believe in reincarnation, and personally, I think that we put to much importance in our lives and our being on earth. Many search for a purpose, maybe there isn't one.

    Dear DrummerBoy:

That is a question that keeps on coming into
my mind. "What is the meaning of life?"

Do you mean that we live for a few decades die
off and that is it ... the end?

True, I do not have the meaning of life, however,
as you say if we are here just to procreate and
carry on the species then there is no meaning
    to life?

    Wanderer,

The god of the Bible is a pretty nasty fellow, with or without what the WTS taught us.

If there were an actual creator of the universe, there are a couple of things I'm pretty sure of - he would not make up a bunch of silly rules about how people should act, many of them contrary to our very nature, and then kill or torment us for not following those rules.

And a god who created this incredible universe would NOT need to be worshipped. That's pathetic.

Also, no god is necessary to have meaning in your life. You create, or fail to create, your own meaning, Unfortunately, the majority of people on Earth center their lives around paying homage to something that doesn't exist. What a waste.

    Okay, Seeker4:

I see your perspective on things. However, the
    perspective begs the question:

    Born to Die?

Wanderer..Do we need God to have a meaning in life?..If there is a God,I think he`s done a shitty job..For me to believe in a God that watch`s over our world.I`d have to believe in an unintellegent suprememe being..LOL!!..Right now,I have no Idea if there is a God.....Either..God does not exsist..Or..He`s taking a friggin long lunch break!..LOL!!...OUTLAW

S4, this summed it up perfectly. A god who needs his creation to worship him, is akin to a child who expects the ants in his ant farm to worship him.

By the way, this is just a discussion, I did not
open the thread to insult or attack anyone.

Just looking for perspectives on the matter.

    Respectfully,
