CoCo- Just wanted to let you know I never made it there last night, but I will and I'll let you know how it goes.
Sorry, I meant to let you know last night, but I got a little sidetracked.
Hope you're having a great day!

"Don't even think about it" - I'll remember that one for future reference! Yesterday afternoon was an improvement on the morning - I had encouraging customers - and you CoCo :-) Yes, once again I know why I bother to carry on. Funny how the negative eventually gets cancelled out by the positive.

    Crumples - Go for it!!

I slept very well last night - from 8.30pm, almost 11 hours, no nightmares either, it didn't aid my efforts to revise for my exam which is tomorrow but I obviously needed it.

It's cold and cloudy here today, may have rain later but I'm indoors so it won't matter! I have lots of jobs to get on with so if the rain keeps the customers away it won't be a wasted day either. Have a good day all.

    Friends,

Wishing a good day to all - posters and lurkers alike. You are welcomed to share your thoughts and your day's activities. No pressure. No guilt. No hard feelings. Only IF you want to.
    That's it folks!

Up at 5:30 this morning, drove hubby to work, took the dogs for a hike and swim, went grocery shopping, made a potato salad for a bbq tonite. Whew, I think I need a nap!!

It's gong to be hot and humid here again today, with thunderstorms this afternoon!

    Have a good one everyone.

Well, I just bought a new sack of Idaho potatoes and jar of mayo [nature's most perfect food]. You've inspired me, Mrs. Bee! Potatoes shall be a-bubbling on the range momentarily, for a succulent potato salad.
You have to do so much before the heat sets in, don't you? How do the pooches fare in the heat? I use to live in sultry country and I never felt clean or refreshed but for a few deliciously cool days in late autumn. Spring, too, could be nice, before it warmed up. Here in California it is hot but totally bearable - no humidity.

Congratulations, emo, on finishing up your exams. What a relief for you. It has been kinda cool hearing about your scholastic vicissitudes. Hope your life doesn't become too dull! Am slated to watch "Notting Hill" again. Will imagine you in the little book store run by Mr. Grant. Loved, too, the little shop around the corner in "You've Got Mail." I was quite incensed at Joe Fox for what he did to poor Kathleen Kelley. But they fell in love, so I'm no longer angry at him.

I've had a relaxing evening playing games on Pogo and watching JWD! It's late now so I'll have to retire for the night, work in the morning.

CoCo, I've never seen those films as I have no tv and the nearest cinema is miles away! I did order that book you recommended the other day though - I'll be keeping that for my holiday in July. I had to look up the meaning of the word 'vicissitudes' and am now educated and agree they my studies were hindered greatly this semester by one thing and another!

    Have a lovely evening.

    Greetings Friends,

A good day to all! May your day be free of incident....
Thank you, emo, for your comments. Isn't it fun using a dictionary? I usually have one, a notepad and pencil ever near at hand. You cannot be too prepared!
I'm glad you've finally gotten a chance to unwind and look forward to your book review. Till later,

    CoCo

We're about a fortnight's journey from the Forbidden City. Our yak must think we're crazy, pushing on relentlessly as we do. Not to mention the nomads, who travel but a few miles and then permit their beasts to browse the high pastures. You see, we've encountered diverse setbacks - following mountain trails that led us smack into rocky walls that showed us no immediately recognizable path of ascent. Then there were the shifty-eyed brigands - known throughout the region as Khampas. Their encampment - Gyak Bongra - is a name that makes brave men tremble; that, we learned, to our chagrin and a potentially disastrous termination of our lives.
As it stands, we did escape, mainly through a bit of bravado and the use of our wiles. But our chief cause of concern is the bitter cold and our fending off its ravages - frostbite being our principal worry. We have no gloves, but only old socks as their replacement. Often we've no choice but to bivouac in the open. Rarely do we come upon an "ihega" - a sheltering stone fence, that protects against the wind. The below- freezing temperatures frequently render sleep impossible, but eventually, because of sheer exhaustion, our slumber becomes leaden.

    Signing off for now,

We've bluffed our way through various check points on an expired travel permit. Some subordinate officials are skeptical, but others are happy to see us on our way. Llasa is but the distance of a few days.
What further challenges await us? Despite our physical pains and utter exhaustion, we are drawn inexorably toward our objective. If only by dint of sheer determination and will, we shall see the fabled city at the top of the world.
