Well, Dave got back from Italy yesterday afternoon. Had a wonderful trip, but said 3 weeks was too long to be away from home. He missed everybody. I think there were a few tears when he saw his "babies", but he hid them well.

We sat outside on the back patio and had a drink while he told me of his trip.

So, I thought it was back to the office today, but NO! Good news, I got the ok to work from home!! YIPPEE! I'm so happy. No more office politics for the next three months! And I can take my doggies for a walk on my lunch!

Welcome to our oasis, ESTEE!! Pleased to know that you've been blessed here :-)

I've had a week of mixed emotions and I find myself all over the place now. I've begun my final year of studies and feel overfaced with all the reading and essays I need to do before Christmas (end of 1st semester). One of my required texts about wisdom is out of print but I managed to acquire the only available used copy from Amazon - it is in excellent condition, in fact it has never been read. On the inside cover was a loving message written to the recipient from the givers. There was something that really touched my heart with sadness about this...

A gift, carefully chosen and lovingly given and the recipient hasn't even opened it :-(

Pity, they may have learned something about displaying the wisdom of God from it. It will be read from cover to cover by me.

I also learned through various events that ignorance is bliss usually only for the ignorant, they have little regard for the colateral damage they may cause...

Then I came here and ESTEE's post brought me back some happiness.

Have a peaceful, blessed weekend all.

    The God Delusion [Paperback]

The Illustrated Brief History of Time [Hardcover]

-So I have some reading to do....

WELCOME ESTEE to our little "oasis" - well put, and thanks, Emo l'emotionelle!

When I feel I'm on the outside, I refuse to isolate myself and jump right back into the fray. 'The one isolating himself is seeking his ... ' Yeah, all right! So here I am.

Sad about the book, Emo. I've seen that happen often - a lovely gift politely accepted then thrown on the heap. Yet, good for you!

    Love,

    Greetings All!

A day off and what am I doing?

I received my new cell phone today, so spent time inputting new numbers, etc., and tried out my new camera. That was fun.

Balanced my Checking account. Little bit longer to do, since I use my interac for most purchases.

Balanced my Savings account. Easy, one deposit.

    Balanced my Visa. Four entries.

Made some new files for home office.

Going for dance lesson tonight. Practicing for East Coast Swing showcase dance in April.

    That's all for now.

    *hugs*

Thank you for sharing your day, ESTEE, and the titles of your newly acquired Amazons, Awakened07!

We appreciate your input and hope to hear from you again soon (and how those gadgets work and what's being read between the lines in those timely tomes).

Popping in to see how CoCo is doing. I've got a miserable cold and I am miserably in to week three of a diet....with no bread. I confess, I'm addicted to baked goods. How long does it take to recover from withdrawal? I've reorganized my tupperware (lids to bowls), my kitchen utensils, toolchest, desk, socks, and wallet. What's next? Q-tips and pins?

Next on my reading list, "The seven habits of highly effective people." and anything by Dostoevsky. I've just finished "Crime and Punishment". I swear, that man is a genius at gleaning human nature. I didn't know such thinkers/writers existed.

I bought myself an Azalea to help me feel better. If you have any tips on how to keep them alive, I'm all ears.

CoCo's well, jgnat, but sorry that you are so miserable with that blasted cold! Today, at least, we have remedies to take the edge off the misery. When I was a kid we had that bowl of steaming water - with a towel over the head - and VICKS VAPORUB. Heck of a lot o' good that did.

Will check my gardening manual later re: azalea. I'd suggest keeping it moist while it's at its peak of flowering, then dead-head it as the blossoms die off so the energy doesn't go into production of seed. Then acid fertilizer. Then into a bigger pot [or ground] before it gets pot-bound. How's that for this hour of the morning? - 4:08 .... Are gardeners pot-heads?

Thanx for writing! Get well soon ... chicken soup, an old hen, Dan Sydlik once said in a talk about ... [!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????]

    a diet....with no bread.

I have been on a diet with no bread (made with wheat) for almost two years. I lost those few extra pounds I had been wanting to shed, and my health and energy are at its best, largely because of eliminating bread (more specifically, gluten). I used to have a chronic case of exzema, which also has cleared up beautifully since going gluten-free. Actually, I have not gone completely "breadless"--- I merely changed ingredients. I buy other types of bread without gluten. Does this sound like your situation?

There is gluten in so many foods --- that I have taken to reading every label before I buy anything.

Eating out has become another challenge. For example, restaurants here sometimes throw wheat flour into rice, and mashed potatoes, so I have taken to asking on every occasion.

A$ for grocery $hopping, there are lot$ of product$ out there, more expen$ive, of cour$e. I have heard that the additional expense can become a deduction when income tax time rolls around, so keep your receipts, if you live in Canada. I'm starting a spreadsheet to itemize the differences. Keep us posted!

As for my day today, I went for an early massage, then had a nap. Heck, it's Saturday!

Later I'm going for a dance lesson, then our teacher is throwing an "Appreciation Evening" of food and dance. Sounds divine!

Appears that many of you in this thread are into reading. Well, so am I. Right now I am reading Sacred Contracts by Caroline Myss.

    *hugs to all*
