passive resistance is viewed as a weakness by these f*ck-heads.

True passive resistence ala Ghandi etc...is one thing.....just whining and doing nothing is another.

So what do you suggest? Armed revolt?

I suggest you move to the country that meets your ideals.

This sounds like a good suggestion to me....you'll be happier elsewhere.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahatma_Gandhi

He was the pioneer of Satyagraha — the resistance of tyranny through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon ahimsa or total non-violence
Gandhi famously led Indians in the disobedience of the salt tax on the 400 kilometre (248 miles) Dandi Salt March in 1930, and in an open call for the British to Quit India in 1942. He was imprisoned for many years on numerous occasions in both South Africa and India.

gandhi, too, was probably called a "whiner" by his detractors as he sat somewhere fasting and talking about how things must change.

again, i do not see things as really having changed much for people who would like to go from "whinning" to action. jail time hangs like a dark could of apathy.

who would want to be some other prisoner's girlfriend because his philosophy on life was acted on? not many i know of.

Gandi wasn't a whiner he was someone who put his money where his mouth was. It's an admirable quality. The hardest person to confront is the man or the mouse in the mirror.

.....just whining and doing nothing is another.

Whining is a start. I think it does accomplish somethings, it brings a different perspective on things. It might not be has effective as other forms of protest but I think it still is "doing" something.

trust me, i would work actively for change if it wouldn't land me in jail. the next thing i know, several big apes, dressed in blue, with guns on their hips and collapsible batons in hand are at my front door ready to file me away with murderers and rapists because i no longer believe in their religion of Having. i mean, i could go through the "officially" set up routes for making change if it weren't a TOTAL JOKE.

! That's the thing we are forced into this way of living and they dare call it freedom. O.K. maybe we are a little more "free" than a few years back but basically we are still under ruling and you can't vote for no government or for a system that works with out money. We accept the world they way it is because we are condition to accept it. People who are in power control the schools and every thing else that has to do with education to the masses. For now I accept certain things the way they are because I know that a lot of people could not live with out somebody telling theme how to think and that's why I started to vote. If for now I have no choice but to be ruled and be a slave I might as well choose my master.

I don't like the way the government is going now, but without it I would be living under a bridge somewhere. My pension was insured by the government and my social security is paid by the government(sorry, by the working people) so I have to give some credit to it for keeping me going, since I'm seventy-one now. They have wasted most of our SS payments and it is supposed to run out in 2020 I think.

I do think it is being run by big business and most decisions are directed by them. Mankind has been stupid most of it's existance so what else can we expect.

frankiesspeakin sounds like a really well-read guy. He sounds like the typical lemming who feeds on a steady diet of The Nation Magazine, moveon.org talking points, Noam Chomsky books, and Janeane Garofalo's blogs. (it's ironic how that nasty ole Patriot Act hasn't silenced these voices)

I'm just curious as to why an intelligent and enlightened intellectual as himself hasn't fled this evil, backwards, and totalitarian regime. There are plenty of governments out there that would be more his liking; why not explore these options? I'm sure Fidel Castro needs smart, able-bodied people to trim his nose hairs and wipe his ass.

Thank you Tetra. Very well put. I've always personally had a problem with the "America, love it or leave it" crowd. America isn't the government, it's the people. If I have a problem with the government, it's because it thinks it's not responsible to the people. Frankly, I should get to stay, and the government should have to leave. I was born here goddammit.

As for voting and democracy, well, vote if you find a candidate that truly represents YOU. Otherwise, don't support the lesser of two evils. Education is the key. Educate yourself. Spread the word. Make personal connections within your own community and work to solve local issues locally. Don't wait for top-down solutions to be handed to you on a plate. REAL democracy takes work. It doesn't mean hiring others to make your decisions for you.

Anyway, just some thoughts and opinions.

because stepping out of babylon isn't a geographical move. it's an exodus of the mind. a psychological trip.

babylon vibe is everywhere you go on earth. the promised land isn't anywhere else than in the craniums of individuals. running away isn't going to do anyone much positive.

    thanks for the suggestion though.
