    W Are Y,

True passive resistence ala Ghandi etc...is one thing.....just whining and doing nothing is another.

Ok if we can get enough people together and all agree not to pay our taxes until the US government dis arms 99% of it's nuclear weapons, gets the hell out of Iraq, lowers it's military spending by a factor of 90%, gets rid of 90% of its 700 foreign military bases, I'm all for it. Wanna join?

    Prim,

As for voting and democracy, well, vote if you find a candidate that truly represents YOU. Otherwise, don't support the lesser of two evils. Education is the key. Educate yourself. Spread the word. Make personal connections within your own community and work to solve local issues locally. Don't wait for top-down solutions to be handed to you on a plate. REAL democracy takes work. It doesn't mean hiring others to make your decisions for you.

I agree, to enlighten people is the key. Point out the spoon feed horse shit the government is feeding the people, as more peole see thru the propaganda the more things will change.

Frankie this is where it gets sticky....if we don't pay our taxes the seniors get cut off, we haven't used nukes on anyone, whether we want to or not we won't be leaving Iraq for at least 5 years, military spending is bound to increase even if the war wound down today because all of the equipment already needs to be replaced, but the good news is your last suggestion is being accomplished since BRAC has begun closing overseas bases for three years already.

I'm sure Fidel Castro needs smart, able-bodied people to trim his nose hairs and wipe his ass.

I do not want to sound disrespectful but do you know a lot about Cuba? There are a lot of things in Cuba that are much better then the U.S. This might surprise you but If I had to choose between U.S. and Cuba I would choose Cuba. You get free medical care, free higher education, you are aloud to criticize the government. I don't agree with every thing but there is a lot of good things about Cuba.

I'm coming in late, but just for the record the largest outlay of funds from the government (by far and away) is social programs: social security, medicaid, medicare, etc. If you stop paying your taxes the people you are going to hurt are the ones you claim to want to help. For my 2 cents that's the biggest problem with most of what gets proposed by self-styled progressives: it hurts more than it helps.

Go ahead, sit on your warm, dry and well-fed ass and whine. The fact that you can do that stands as proof that this country is a lot better than you think it is.

What are you saying? That I should be grateful that the government doesn't chop my head off or imprison me for speaking negatively about the way they are handlingly things? There is a lot more to freedom than a limited amount of free speach.

Frankie I went on a business trip to Bucharst Romania a few years back. The taxi cab from the airport to the hotel was surreal, because it took us through the heart of the city. The city itself looked like it was once a prosperous European capital, like Vienna only much dirtier....but there was a disturbing number of really young children on nearly every major street corner. Young children, maybe 5-7 at the most.....and they looked like they were begging for money. When we got to the hotel and finally got to talk to someone who would be honest and open with us, they explained that in the city of Bucharest, it was common place for parents to send their very young children off to the street corners unescorted, for hours, to beg for money.

Damn straight you should be grateful! In most of the mid east you would have been tortured and then had your head chopped off. Thank your lucky stars you can shoot your mouth off and not be in fear of death.

I am no fan of the current president. I didn't vote for him, but I can sure gripe about his decisions and vote in someone else with no fear of voicing my opinions.

Also, you stated you don't want to pay taxes. How do you think the roads are maintained, fires are put out, police are paid for etc.? If your local area was declared a disaster zone who do you think pays for the clean up? Its the Federal government who helps support our local infrastructure along with the state itself.

Get a grip, stop whining, and thank your lucky stars that people volunteer to defend your right to gripe, that you don't have to fight in a war you don't believe in and you will still be eligible for Medicare and SS despite your nasty attitude towards the country you live in.

FS said: "How about I just refuse to pay my taxes?"

Don't even refuse. Merely ask them politely (over and over and over again if you have to), "What is THE LAW that says I have to pay federal income tax?" Answer: They CAN'T answer because there IS NO SUCH LAW. For specifics, watch the interview with the former IRS Commissioner in the "Freedom to Fascism" documentary (I think it's online free at either google video or youtube, or you can get it for $1 at the OneDollarDVDProject website). It's not only an eye-opener for those not yet aware of these facts, but it's also a hoot. Watch a liar squirm.

    ----------------------

FS, we probably wouldn't agree on everything, but I do agree with these things you said:

    [...]
uncle sam is really a police state with an army and prisions to make one comply, they do not represent freedom and thier use of the word borders on rediculous.

What about enlightening people to the true nature of things and helping them see beyond the indoctrination and propaganda they have been conditioned with?

I think reasoning with people and helping them see where they have been duped will make changes, just as much or more, than joining a political group or voting.

when a politician uses the word freedom, they use it a a clique that has almost no meaning and is used the same way a mind control cult uses words to stop thinking.

    All very true.

"...became a responsible citizen of the U.S."

A "responsible citizen" can't do much good when the government is not a "responsible government." It takes two to tango.

"One lousy stinking vote means more than a gazzilion opinions in cyberspace."

"Elections are decided by counting votes, not blogs."

That depends if your "one lousy stinking vote" actually gets counted, or gets manipulated by the handlers of the electronic voting machines. And as someone else said, voting for either of two wrongs don't make a right.

The benefit of "a gazzillion opinions in cyberspace" is that they can be emailed to congressmen and the pres. However, as we speak they are wanting to create a law that PREVENTS Americans from knowing what they are doing in Congress, via grass-roots "Congressional watch groups" so Congress doesn't have to be bombarded with our emails and phone calls from constituents:

Congress seems poised to pass a greatly restrictive bill which would refuse grass-roots organizations from reporting legislation which is about to be passed.

NEWS BRIEF: "U.S. House set to vote on “Grassroots Gag Order: Contact your representative today to oppose H.R. 984", by Donald Wildmon, Founder and Chairman, American Family Association

"Without a doubt, this could be the most important letter I have written you. I wrote to you in January about legislation in the U.S. Senate that could have silenced grassroots communication. Thankfully, the legislation was defeated after you and other concerned citizens let your voices be heard. Now, the U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on the same issue.

"The U.S. House is set to vote on H.R. 984, which would effectively keep AFA and every other pro-family organization in America from providing you information on bills in Congress. Under H.R. 984, we would only be able to provide you information on a bill at a high cost and at great danger of being penalized by Congress."

"To put it bluntly, members of Congress are tired of getting your e-mails and phone calls, and H.R. 984 is designed to keep information from you that might inspire you to call or write your representative."

"Click Here to read AFA's review of H.R. 984."

"The new Democratic Senate thinks that if it can keep you from getting information - which is what H.R. 984 would do - then its members will not be getting e-mails and phone calls from you."

"Representatives favoring this bill are simply tired of hearing from you. That is the bottom line. They don’t want to hear from you. They don’t want you to be informed. They want to silence you. How? By simply keeping you from receiving information that AFA provides."

"I know that language is strong, but H.R. 984 will do exactly what I’ve said."

This matter IS urgent. Time and time again, Christians and/or Conservatives have learned what our Congress and White House are about to do to us only because of grass-roots organizations who are looking carefully on a daily basis. If Congress can silence these organizations, informed citizens have no chance whatsoever to remain free.

"...someone who participates in the process."

That's like saying someone who participates in a WT magazine study on a Sunday morning at a KHall has any chance in Hades of changing the org from the bottom up. They can raise their hand and "vote" as often as they want but it won't change a thing because the WT-system is corrupt from the top down and from the inside out, and those who run it want to hear NOTHING from those whom they "rule over," and the United Corporate States of America are no different.

Then again, some prefer to play by what they consider are the "real rules" (which is a facade, btw, just to keep people THINKING they are actually DOING something "right"); and others prefer to "educate" by spreading the word to those willing to learn and educate themselves as to what is really going on.

    -----------------------

BTW, re: the Iraq war and "war spending," get the excellent documentary by Robert Greenwald entitled "Iraq for Sale: War Profiteers."

    ----------------------

Antichrist said, "I voted for the green party. I thought they had very radical and different ideas."

Is your "green party" in any way similar to ours, ie, the "ENVIRONMENTAL green party"? If so, beware, you may not appreciate their "very radical and different ideas" afterall, as they want people to stop having so many children because children -- especially the "high maintenance" children in "rich countries" -- are now being blamed for adding to global warming (according to them. I couldn't make this stuff up if I wanted to):

A dangerous trend - environmentalists want to limit family size
    http://www.InJesus.com/index.php?module=message&task=view&MID=4B007C7J&GroupID=AA006SGW

Having large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanour in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags, says a report to be published today by a green think tank. The paper by the Optimum Population Trust will say that if couples had two children instead of three they could cut their family's carbon dioxide output by the equivalent of 620 return flights a year between London and New York. John Guillebaud, co-chairman of OPT and emeritus professor of family planning at University College London, said: "The effect on the planet of having one child less is an order of magnitude greater than all these other things we might do, such as switching off lights. The greatest thing anyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to have one less child." In his latest comments, the academic says that when couples are planning a family they should be encouraged to think about the environmental consequences. Professor Guillebaud says that, as a general guideline, couples should produce no more than two offspring.

Global Warming propaganda has advanced to the point where one leader can call for the forced reduction in global population to less than 1 billion people (Read our NEWS2207 http://cuttingedge.org/news/login.cfm?GoingTo=http://cuttingedge.org/news/n2207.cfm ), while a "Think Tank" can actually state that "children are bad for the planet"!

When you see this kind of shocking nonsense being readily publicized, you know you are at the very end of the propaganda cycle! Time is truly very late.

NEWS BRIEF: "Children 'bad for planet' ", The Australian News, May 7, 2007
"HAVING large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanor in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags, says a report to be published today by a green think tank."

Did you catch that new "crime" being proposed by this "green think tank"? "Environmental Misdemeanor"!

I find this concept totally ridiculous. However, since population reduction is at the top of the Illuminati list of priorities, this concept will take hold, with the "Misdemeanor" being rapidly turned in to a "Felony".

"The paper by the Optimum Population Trust will say that if couples had two children instead of three they could cut their family's carbon dioxide output by the equivalent of 620 return flights a year between London and New York."

The one principle you learn very quickly is that you cannot ever trust the math statistic being offered by one of these radical groups. This kind of statistic is literally pulled out of thin air, and is offered as a means by which the undiscerning masses can be stampeded into panic.

"John Guillebaud, co-chairman of OPT and emeritus professor of family planning at University College London, said: 'The effect on the planet of having one child less is an order of magnitude greater than all these other things we might do, such as switching off lights. 'The greatest thing anyone in Britain could do to help the future of the planet would be to have one less child'."

Even though this article states that most of the population growth will occur in developing nations, rather than Industrialized countries, the impact of a baby growing up in developed nations is actually said to be greater than one growing up in a Third World country.

"The British fertility rate is 1.7. The EU average is 1.5. Despite this, Professor Guillebaud says rich countries should be the most concerned about family size as their children have higher per capita carbon dioxide emissions.
