I agree, borg, an 18 week old fetus is a BABY. Having an abortion that late in pregancy, is murder.

some might disagree with me and that's cool.

I am pro-choice in that I feel that early abortions (pre-9 weeks) (that is pre - 2 months pregant) when done as a last resort, not as birth-control, is sometimes necessary. There are some teenagers (even 11 or 12 yr olds are getting pregant!) who need it. Rape victims. Mothers who cannot have another child without danger to her life. Mothers who are addicted to drugs/alcohol and will only give birth to a severly deformed baby. Embryos pre 11 weeks gestation are just starting to develope a brain stem...they are not conscious yet. Are they alive? Yes. But they dont have the ability to feel pain yet. Brainwaves start at around the 12th week mark. They start dreaming. They are beginning to be sentient.

I guess the question is VERY broad...and by saying pro-choice, I don't mean I AGREE with it in every situation either.

    As a JW I was firmly anti-choice.

My first pregnancy was terminated at twenty weeks, and I held him and wondered at his tiny hands and skinny feet. I was in induced labour for 36 hours.

I got pregnant with my second son a few months later. Every child should be a wanted child.

Here's a question: A person unknown to you needs a kidney transplant, or they will certainly die within months, You are a perfect tissue match. If you donate a kidney, you are subject to a definate risk of complications, possibly death; and months of convalescence. Should you be obligated to go through with the donation?

Abortion is certainly a controversial topic. Before I really got into the "meat" of the subject, I was pro-choice.

Now, after educating myself more, I am pro-life.

I think the times we were in when the abortion law was passed allowed us to let our moral guard down and

we went over the edge with some of the laws we passed. We've never been able to find a way to right the wrong that was done.

Pro Life. I had a miscarriage at 22 weeks. I saw my little boy all perfectly formed with 10 fingers and 10 toes at only 22 weeks you could already see that he looked just like his dad. I think abortion is murder.

Having said that my cousin has a severly disable child. When she fell pregnant with her second the doctor told her that the baby was also serverly disable. She had an abortion and I can't say that I could judge her for that. She spends all of her time looking after her son. She just could not have coped with another.

I think I'm more against women that use abortion as a form of birth control, that is criminal. Women who chose to abort like in my cousins case or women who have been raped. That's a grey area for me.

In regards to the kidney transplant analogy, if the person called to do a donation was in the first place responsible for the transplant being needed, then of course there is an obligation. But otherwise, no.

Many pro-choicers say that it's acceptable for a woman to get an abortion just because supporting an unborn child for nine months can be too inconvenient. Yet these same people often have no problems whatsoever in demanding that the taxpayers support a child from birth for the next two hundred and sixteen months (eighteen years). Some women want all the "choice" but none of the responsibility.

Well I disagree completely with all the people on here who refer to it as "murder". All I can say to you lot is stop sensationalising things by using words like "murder".

Having said that, I think it is wrong to abort a fetus just because you made a mistake and don't feel like having a baby.

However I think abortion is justified if the mother is very young (under 16) or if there is a danger to mother or baby, or indeed, if the baby is severely deformed.

Some people have had an abortion because it was the only option available to them - the baby was severely deformed, or the mother was at risk of death.

Life is so precious and a miracle!

For me and mine, I'm a pro lifer. For others, it's their choice. It's none of my business. They have to carry the burden one way or the other.
