Actually, Farkel, I thought the words in your original post, coming from you, were a bit disingenuous and took your words as seriously as a three-dollar bill.
See, since March, I've gotten used to seeing you call people who disagreed with you, you know, those who are beneath you, "Dipfucks" over and over. I've seen you show a mercilessly debased disrespect toward women (one in particular who was/is supposedly your friend). I've seen you demonstrate an otherwise general INtolerance and outright ugliness for those whose opinions differed from yours.
Your personal history being what it is, it was (is) hard for me to put any stock into what you said here today, your thundering past behavior drowning out your flowery platitudes. Sorry, but I can't help thinking that your words are so much bullshit -- you know... sorta like the GB's "we are a united, worldwide brotherhood" bullshit.
We have to show more tolerance and respect for our differences, and we constantly have to work on developing that "love" for each other that we never had as dubs. It is our duty, no, it is our OBLIGATION to rise above our sordid pasts and let our lives be the examples of compassion and understanding that we never had as JWs.

I guess if I begin to see EVIDENCE that you actually believe the words you wrote and aren't simply swept up in some rhapsodic, emotional 'thing' of the moment, I will believe that you actually mean what you have said. Amazingly enough, that same women (whom I still love, BTW) had a friend of hers write me today and offered to set up an account whereby I would receive an amount of money for the next several months. Although the amount of money was fairly small, I guess it proves that I have many more friends than you, teejay.
Get used to it. Be real and be nice and be honest, and you too, can have friends.

Jews and Mormons have their share of problems, I'm sure. But I have friends in both groups and can attest that their world view is much more optimistic than J.W.'s nor are they as isolated. I went with my Mormon friends to their temple a few times and, of course, they tried their darndest to convert me but eventually gave it up. None of them quit associating with me, nor did their church tell them that they must. Both Jews and Mormons advocate higher education and encourage all kinds of social outlets for their people. Compared to J.W., they really are much more "part of the world" and tens times more well adjusted than J.W's.
BTW: This is a good thread, Farkel. Am I sticking to the subject?

Your reference to the call from Shelby's friend regarding on going financial assistance with the 'caviat' "small amount".......just about made me sick.
Is that the way you measure friends and friendship, those who pony up when you need it? I wrote you an email praising your new found epiphany, but by your response to tj, I see it is really more of a ruse. You want your cake and eat it to.
