Perhaps people will see (well, we can only hope, eh?) that Frank's demonstrating the answer to the thread title?

Instead of the fluffy "this is getting interesting" statement, why don't you give us some insight into what exactly you find interesting in it. Fill us in on what you are getting out of this thread other than an excuse to grab a bag of popcorn. That seems to be what you usually do. This time, make a statement, dammit. No offense, but this is what I'm talking about. Put it out on the table, Sweetheart.

Oh, I think Barbie as being humorous. In the distant past, whenevr there was the beginning of a stoush, people would get out their popcorn - indicating they were spectators at the contest (entertainment wise) - Get it?
Also, a way of damping down the heat was to change the subject by asking what is your favorite pizza topping.
So, a bit of humor here and it doesn't do any of us any harm.
Now, what's your favorite pizza topping?

Sheeze!!!! I get it, Ozzie. I know the nuances of the popcorn/beer/whatever posting. God! This place is a freak show these days! Have you all dumbed down!???

If anything, I would blame the wave of trolls we have had lately. Impersonating other posters to break the rules and attacking legitimate opinions and unique experiences is not cool. It could easily be one or two envious people with nothing better to do than come on and ruin forums. And it's not just here. All forums have to be on guard against trolls and spammers, since they are waiting for the chance to use the forums to promote their own agendas or to get kicks in ruining it for those trying to live in peace. The mods are doing their best to correct it, but some trolls seem to open up accounts as fast as they can be banned. Eventually they will be perma-banned if they continue.
There has in fact been a lot of soap opera drama within the Watchtower Society itself lately. Just a few weeks ago, they had a news report on NBC Evening News about the pedophile problem within the organization, and now they have the nerve to reinstate the ban against oral sex (they call it "uncleanness"). Additionally, many people are starting to be hounded to go back or to get disfellowshipped. That is creating a lot of strife in people's lives. The organization is doing all it can to recapture and/or disfellowship people that go inactive and try fading. And that creates a lot of problems within people's families and hence a lot of drama for boards like this.
Finally, it is time for the holidays. From what I have seen, there seems to be a Great Christmas Wimpout in progress. People are not getting into the Christmas spirit at all. Christmas lights are few and far between, and there are stores where you can't even beg, borrow, or steal a Christmas song where they used to blast them in right after Thanksgiving. Whatever may be causing that may also be contributing to a few of the problems on this board, including edginess. Perhaps a little dose of tolerance for this, especially for posters that have outlier experiences with the Watchtower Society, is in order.

I have been a member of this board for 6 years and it has always been a peyton place but like someone said earlier you just got to roll with the flow and enjoy it. Try to find the humor in being able to communicate with people from all over the world who have one thing in common. Coming out of a cult.! Yes it sometimes can be confusing but more so than not it is a very comfortable place to be to discuss issues on many levels.
Welcome back, Oldflame

I like the way you put it, oldflame.

I must say when I initially left the organisation I was so desperate to have people to share my feelings with, people who would understand where I'm coming from. If you haven't been a JW it's very difficult to let "normal" people know what a great relief it is to be free and how alive you feel. That need was satisfied by JWD, I got to talk about my feelings openly - without being judged.
After a while that need died off - I was happy with where I was and I also felt like I had to let go of everything JW related including JWD (though all ex JWs) I felt that i needed to move on. Which I did. I hadn't posted for at least a year and a half.
Then....one day - recent too - decided to pop back on - see what discussions were going on. And well I'm back for a while - I've also noticed a change, nothing I can put my finger on - but then again it's not necessarily the forum that has changed but rather it is me.
