    Snowbird,

I like the fact that the US Government has seen fit to implement and administer so many social reforms. What I do not like is the fact that so many of us are expecting the government to take care of us from the cradle to the grave.

Do you actually know anything at all about modern American history? Look at the roots of where Civil Rights reforms began.

    I certainly do.

Tear gas, billy clubs, K-9 dogs and all.

I'm actually from Alabama, the Black Belt at that. Go ahead and google it.

I'm pleased about the strides this country has made in the Civil Rights arena, but I'm at the same time a realist.

Burn both parties are socialist they wouldn't be viable otherwise.

The Republicans are National Socialist IE help out the corporations at the expense of the poor for the sake of national security. Ala Nazism and Fascism

The Democrats are Democratic Socialist IE help the people out at the expense of the corporations for the sake of national security. Ala Communism and Democratic Socialism

You decide which ideology looks better.

What do you think about it however?

It would be a bad idea to state a position because I'm not an American citizen and hence I can't assess domestic policy. But, from a European perspective (and I know we've already been sharing thoughts on this), I'd choose for Obama (but who cares I have no vote).

I know where Alabama is. You are missing my point. The Civil Rights movement (for all Americans) has its roots in America Socialism from the 1870's onwards, and especially during the 1920's. Remember Sacco and Vanzetti?

    Warlock,

I see the Warlock has as ever, very little of substance to add to the thread.

That American Socialism supported the Civil Rights movement is just proof that even a broken clock is right twice a day.

That it was right in this does not mean that it is right in the rest.

Incidentally, that is a pathetic attempt at establishing credibility by dropping an obscure reference.

That's doubtful. The same can be seen all over the western world.
