Journey, this isn't meant to be sarcasm. It's a sincere question. I've found some pretty obscure things using Simon's search feature. And even if I did mean it sarcastically, it would not have been meant hatefully. I don't hate any poster on JWD. I may disagree with some posters, but I love everyone here.

Your comment underlies a depressing feeling that I have been getting the past few years that many Americans are terribly ignorant of their own history, which might suggest the reason that many have no clue about their 'today'.

Read your history Burn. American Socialism was in many ways responsible for the Civil Rights movement. That is the point that I have been making, but of course you barely bother assimilating the information in other posts before you are ready, 'enter' button at the ready. You remind me of that soldier in 'All Quiet On The Western Front', who is so intent on joining the battle that he runs to the front line while his leaves his rifle behind at the canteen.

There were riots in Europe after the American judge handed the verdict. They were, incidentally, Anarchists.

This is true. It was the Republican Party that helped drive this country into the Great Depression. As those died off ,who remembered what happened, gullible people were taken in by Reagan and now GW Bush. And look, we are very close to similar economic disaster.

Obama has some rich and powerful backers. I'm afraid if he's voted in and can't or won't deliver, the hounds will be turned loose on him.

I would hate to see that happen to him.

The Carter legacy was such a catastrophe for the Dems that 5 of the last seven presidential contests went "R".

A single Obama term would be a blessing for Republican politics. That is how lousy I am convinced his presidency will be.
