Ok,....My turn!
I can't possibly comment on everything but I did want to comment on the racist comments.
I honestly believe that a lot of the people who perpetuate racism in this world are the ones complaining about it. I believe that if people would talk about the changes in discrimination and racism in a positive way it would have a more positive effect. When people complain daily about the lack of opportunity for minorities or that "African Americans" need reparations for the slavery 200 yrs ago they cause a reaction from those who are struggling themselves even thought they are not minorities.
BTW: Before anyone talks about the how bad slavery was here in the US and how we somehow are responsible for what our forefathers did, I think we need to remember that there is still slavery right in Africa. Some of the slaves that were transported from Africa to the Colonies were actually purchased from African Tribal Leaders. Imagine that.....One human hurting another for financial gain. Like that's never happened before. We can learn from the past but we can't change it or pay for it.
I dare you to call me a racist. But before you do....be prepared to define racist. Ok?

LOL@Rex and Six. Ah, you guys!! Too funny.
Actually I am disappointed to see nothing from Dannybear here. I was certain he would sieze the opportunity to show me how wrong I have been all these years about my friend Seeker. I mean he has gone to such lengths in this thread to criticize Seeker the Extremist, lol I thought the least he could do was to refute my obviously biased defense of the guy. Silence speaks volumes doesn't it friends?
Love to all--

Here is the truth about the origins of the Am I A Bad American story.
I belong to some political disscussion groups, and I remember when this first started going around last year. Some said it was by TEd Nuegent, others said George CArlin. There are also many varients of this article going around too, some not as politically correct as this version is.
The real author of this story is a guy from FreeRepublic.com. It first appeared in FreeRepublic.com in Sept of 2000. It has since spread, picking up title changes and additions since it caught like wildfire and was forwarded in emails.
Here is the author of the post talking about it if you would like to read it.

Here is the Urban Legends site talking about the origin of this story as well:

Admitably, the article was posted by a conservative right winger, an attempt to express his particular views. While I personally agree with some of it, I have discussed and argued about alot of it many many times this past year in my political groups.
I am always very hesitant to believe emails going around internet at face value, as most of them prove to be hoaxs if you do the research to find out. While this one was not really a hoax, it was just embellished and given improper authorship, it is still interesting to see other's views on it.
Take care!
Cari
I got the second link wrong in my above post....try this one and see if it works.
ONe more time, try this!
Well, howdy, C5, C5, and once again, C5!

Word to the wise -- add a ".." in front of the "http" and it will turn into a click. Simon's the owner here and he's English - it's his dry English wit at work. However, I've clicked there, and the page is not available.
Thanks for the information - I've looked up urban legends, and on another site - "the truth" about stories - and their origins.
Interesting.
Hope you come around again.

Hi Waiting,
Thanks for the welcome.
You mentioned that you were not able to see the page becuase it was not found? Try the 3 rd post of mine above yours...it should work. I figured out the url was wrong because I added an L after the HTM part.
I still dont quite understand the quotes part before the http part....do I want to put the WHOLE url in quotes, or just http in quotes?
Thank you for bearing with me!
Cari
Hi Cari,
If you put any kind of keyboard character in front of your url, such as a dot (which is why I put a . in quotes - so it could be seen), then the url becomes a click. Sorry, when I went back and read it - it confused me too, but that's not uncommon.
Just something to make you newbies feel humble. Ain't them English a kick in the butt or what.

If not Carlin, then who did write it? This piece has also been credited to a number of decidedly conservative, outspoken media figures, such as rock star Ted Nugent, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, and actor-comedian Denis Leary, but the even if the article may seem to echo the political opinions of these men, it doesn't quite match any of them, nor does the language used sound quite right for any of these figures. (Leary, like Carlin, has been credited with creating some other Internet favorites, such as a vituperative discourse on e-mail chain letters and the "Are You Man Enough?" essay. This essay appeared in the FreeRepublic.com on-line forum back in September 2000 under the title "I Am a Bad Republican" (picking up title changes and additions since then as it was forwarded around the Internet), and the person who posted it there has taken credit for it in a recent message in that same forum.
Yup, it works. Thanks and hope to see more of you.
