They don't understand that Santa Clause is pretend.

And how would you know that?

I would know because I recall having several debates in second grade on this very subject.

hehe this is so much more fun than arguing politics

The irony of a bunch of XJW's disussing Santa Claus and make believe etc. is just precious, ain't it??

My son BELIEVES these things. BELIEVES them. They learn they aren't real, but at the beginning they truly believe them.

So my boy sees Santa on TV. He believes in him like he believes Blue from Blues Clues can really talk. And that Dad and I shouldn't fight because Little Bill's parents don't. But honey, they aren't real people like me and Daddy. Wailing...yes they arrrrreeeee!!!!!

    Don't you remember being young?

momzcrazy, you may not believe me, but I have memories from the womb, or at the very least dreams when I was very young of being in the womb. Yes I remember childhood, but I always understood the difference in imagination and real life. Granted, I was not a typical kid.

I can really believe that. And trusted me when I say that when you have a child you may get your exact opposite. I've seen it happen before.

It's not about lying to them. It is totally about making wonderful memories. I haven't come across one person who said"I'm totally messed up because my parents lied to me about Santa". I remember my one brother even though he was out of the organization he just couldn't deal with the Santa thing. His kids were already to old when he got out but mine were little. He always wanted to ruin it for them. I finally told him "everyone wants to believe in magic, whats wrong with it"? I always wanted to believe Peter Pan was real. BIG DEAL! My older son is 4 years older than his brother and he never wanted us to tell his brother. He never spoiled it for him. It's some of our fondest memories.

My Tia Carmen used to say she can remember being born.

I'm sorry that magic was drained out your childhood John.

Want I should send you a Santa for your mantle???

Turning magic and truth into enemies is a false dichotomy.
