juni: This philosophy is bankrupt if there is a God and there is life after death (eternity). Religion will not go away despite atheistic predictions.

If you look up Jewish Messanic writings over the past 100 years there is a Library full of stuff. Every Observant Jew recites in their Daily Prayers mention of the Messiah in the Shmoneh Esrei prayers.

Oh I have, and reciting prayers isn't the same as "holding out hope" if you know what I mean.
The Messiah coming in the way that was commonly thought in the 1st century has been pretty much "modified".
You won't find many Jews believing in the "scriptural messiah" in its literal form, though of course they must believe in the 13 principels of faith, of which the messiah is one of them.

Poor Podo.
How frustrating that must be.

I'm not atheist. Atheism I feel is a religion in itself. I'm a devout agnostic.

YHWH/aka Yahweh/aka Jehovah is the evil pretender creator god Yaldabaoth
Jehovah/Yahweh) who, by his own
admission, is jealous, wrathful and full of vengeance. The
fear of the "Lord" (Jehovah) is constantly
stressed throughout the Old Testament. He is expected to
reward those who worship him and are not delinquent in their
observance of the ritual law, by gratifying their worldly
desires for material gains and worldly power. This ‘God’ Jehovah, is a "being
liable to passion and error, capricious in his favour,
implacable in his resentment, meanly jealous of his
superstitious worship, and confining his partial providence
to a single people and to this transitory life."
My Research indicates that the Hebrew Bible, far from being
an infallible historical text authored by an illusive
Supreme Being, is a heavily revised compilation of at least
two entirely separate works, which were fused together and
became part of the Torah. Later additions were made to it.
As time went by other writings were added to it and it
became what was know as the Jewish Bible. It was very
cleverly and saddistically added to the Orthodox Roman
Catholic Canon, which we call the Bible today.Jesus the Christ is not Jehovah
One True God, who
Jesus referred to as OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, dwells in
the highest Realm of Light and plays no part in the actions
of these evil artisans who came be worshipped by the Jews
and the Israelites. -

Hey Sylvia! How have you been?
Hey, Juni! So good to hear from you. I'm suffering from a bout of clinical depression, but the meds are helping.
I believe there was a Jesus - the facts (history) show there was. I believe Jehovah was the name of a tribal god of the people at that time fulfilling their superstitious needs as they had limited knowledge of science.
I believe the same as you about Jesus, but the opposite of your second sentence.
I feel we've outgrown the usefulness of religion and should educate ourselves with science to get on with finding solutions to serious issues we all face here on earth.
I don't think we will ever outgrow religion. There is something deep within all of us that makes us want to worship something.
That's my opinion.
But, of course. And, it is just as valid as mine and those of others.
Again, it's good to hear from you.

@Essan: *thanks for the empathy*
I have read your reply, thank you, (and already submitted mine!)...
Whenever I read the Scriptures I try my best to put myself in context with the people of the time. In a difficult situation the first question I ask myself is "What would Jesus have done?"
The letter to the Galatians was written around 40-50 AD, and I am aware of the struggle that already existed in that region and Paul's great concern for the brothers. That is why I wanted to focus on the Jewish mindset...
After your critique... could you please attempt to explain to me Psalm 2...
I have tried to understand this with "Trinitarian" eyes, as I have many of the references made by Paul and others to the Psalms.
To me the reading is so simple... but, I am willing to accept a Trinitarian view.
How possibly can Jesus be Jehovah? I await your considered reply. Thanks
