Yeah, Well for all of you who are slagging them ..... figure this!...... my aunt (now in her 80s) was asked to do clerical work for the WTBTS president N H Knorr in the 1950s during a District Convention in Vancouver, Canada. She was nervous to say the least but she accepted the invite.... Br Knorr noticed her nervousness and asked her a few questions - one of which - was she married?.... well, she was and said so and he then replied with words to the effect that - just like her husband he too was just a man- can men get things wrong? ..... did Jesus' apostles get things wrong as well? .....c remember the first several verses of the book of Acts when Jesus is reported to have last communicated with some of them prior to ascending to heaven and they asked even at that point, if he was restoring the kingdom to Israel at that time?...... also, the pretense over continuing to follow the Mosaic Law - recorded later in Acts.... Paul had to confront Peter and set him straight....
Well the answer to can men get things wrong is this- YES!!!!! is anyone surprised?????? WHY????? Also remember that - as the light gets stronger, the way gets clearer..... Well maybe the light hasn't yet got so intensely bright that all things are well established....
Now, here is one more item to throw in..... my grandfather became a JW in 1928...... my unncle, his oldest son, got baptized in 1932...... my grandfather KNEW deep down inside that he WAS NOT going to heaven .... apparently, so did my uncle..... prior to 1935.... was the governing body of the day wrong in teaching that all were going to heaven? ..... absolutely!!!!!!!!!!.... did my grandfather leave being a witness? ..... absolutely NOT!!!!!!.... why not?...... his words were to me when I asked him why he did not speak up and say that not all were coing to heaven, were essentially this..... that it was not his position to do so and an in Jehovah's due time it would be clarified.... it WAS clarified in 1935.... was his knowing or not knowing until that time an important issue?..... as in did it matter one way or another that they were wrong?.... looking back at his life and eventual death, I think not.....
The rather humourous aspect of any conversations about this is that people, oftentimes, believe the governing body to be wrong and say so.... along with words to the effect that they ought to get off their high horses, admit their errors, correct the misunderstandings etc.... and then, when they do, the(usually) same group slag them for doing so..... again- go figure.....
Has the WTBTS been manipulated by preconceived ideas and erroneous doctrines? ..... Looking through their history, I would have to say yes.... have a lot of the errors been corrected?.... evidence seems to indicate that they have.... are there still erroneous beliefs? ..... I think so..... will they be, in their due time, be corrected?.... I am sure they will..... Are imperfect humans capable of guiding their own steps...whether they be the governing body or just regular publishers in a congregation?...... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!.....
The deal that it looks like a lot of you have missed here is this.... when you hear opinions from the platform at a Kingdom Hall that do not fit with what you know is written in the Bible...... despite what you may have been informed of..... you DO have the right to express that you are a "BOREAN" and you want to examine the scriptures (daily-if necessary) to make sure that what you are being taught is, in fact, so..... remember that the Apostle Paul referred to the Boreans as being (more) noble minded for displaying this trait.... and it was Pauls words that, if not actually questioning, they were putting to the test and proving to be true (or false if that is what the scriptures proved)..... noble minded for doing so.... hmmmmm..... a LOT of elders ought to photocopy the words in the Book of Acts, paste them to their refrigerator doors and think long and hard about people who dare question them..... I just recite the "BOREAN CLAUSE" when i question them.....
Which brings me to this point..... are you all absolutely sure that what you are railing against is scriptural doctrine from the governing body or merely the opinionating of some elders who seem to believe that they may have powers of interpretation and freely state their own opinions as if they were scriptural fact? This is the problem that I seem to have at times.....
Anyway..... take care all of you
