But back to topic. It's not porn they are worried about as much as it is apostate web sites. If they warn about apostate web sites all the time, it would just make some poor Witness decide to check one out just to see what they say. That would be deadly to the GB. One spouse would be more reluctant to visit a site like this if the other was watching. How many times have we seen one spouse wake up and the other stay in and leave the marriage?

That's my point Homer. As Dinah says, they wouldn't want to raise curiousity in people about apostate websites so they make pornography out to be a bigger problem than it really is.

Not to hijack this thread but in an earlier paragraph of that Watchtower magazine, I noticed this:

Such pressure is not conducive to spiritual progress; rather it tears one down." Young brothers and sisters why not see whether what you learned in school to expand your ministry as Hannah did? And why not take a leaf out of Rachel's book, so to speak, by zealously pursuing goals that truly honor God? Follow Luke's example, avoiding the snares that have proved to be a snare to many youths.

In 1980, when I was a senior in high school, the school counselor called me in to congratulate me on being offered a 4 year scholarship. Full of zeal and eager to use what I learned in that worldly school to expand my ministry, I told her I was turning that down. I was oh so smug because I was going to pioneer, The End was coming any day and I had no need to be contaminated by the evils of a college degree.

I did in fact pioneer for 3 years. Nearly 30 years later, I am maxed out in my earning capacity struggling in a work environment that values a degree over experience or know how.

Follow Luke's example? I did and it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. If any lurker is reading this thread -- IGNORE THE WATCHTOWER AND GO TO COLLEGE!

Good point Big Tex. I was at the meeting today and there were a couple of older teenagers on the row in front who are currently at university. They looked at each other and rolled their eyes. Hopefully they'll be getting lots of classes on critical thinking skills.
