NOW how do you view the Future?

The future of mankind as a species is irrelevant in the great big scheme of things. What are we?

Well think of this. Our sun are a microdot in the Milky way Galaxy. The Milky Way is just one of billions of galaxies all which containg Billions of stars. Compared to our sun the planet earth is insignificant. So we as individuals inhabiting this planet are not even the equivalent of ants. How much interest do you show the ants in the back of your Garden? Would you sacrifice your son to save one of them? I wouldn't. If there is a god responsible for the creation of the Universe why should he care about the ants in his garden. If I spend too much time worrying about the future of Mankind, then I won't be living my life. So I am thrilled to be alive, and I will make the most of my life, as for the future - I can't control it, but I can do things to make sure the here and now is great for me and my kids.

    I am very optimistic.

I hear a lot of people talking about gloom and doom and wishing for the "good-ol-days", but the reality of matter is that at no point in all of human history have humans had it as good as we have it now.

As long as mankind can keep the power-hungry money-grabbing blood-sucking lying deceivers at bay, we will continue evolving onward and upward physically and spiritually as a species. We have free will and each and every one of us has the freedom to choose our own destiny. As long as balance is maintained, the Future overall looks bright, imo. I never have been a doom 'n gloom kind of person though and truly believe we are the image of the creative force that designed us.

Casting aside what little you learned about God and Christ- are you thrilled with the future of Mankind?

    TheMadJW:

What little I learned about God and Christ? Excuse me? Let's see, I have read the Bible from cover to cover since I was 9 years old. I spent two years researching the Bible and the WTBTS when I had a shipwreck of faith. I think I know something about it.

By your question "are you thrilled with the future of Mankind?", what you are really asking is "Now that you do not believe that Jehovah will bring a paradise earth, are you thrilled with the alternative?". Why don't you say what you mean?

Yes, I am thrilled that I no longer have to cry my eyes out because I believe that wonderful people I know will be murdered by "Jehovah".

I am thrilled that I no longer believe that the cold hearted, stoic, bureaucratic, judgemental, self righteous, hypocrites who make up most of the positions of power and prestige in the JW organization will be ruling the earth for an eternity.

I am VERY thrilled not to believe this nonsense any more.

As to the future of Mankind. In 2012 the earth is going to cross the galactic equatorial plane which happens once every 64,000 years. The builders of the Great Pyramid at Giza believed that this was going to mean something very profound for human beings. Perhaps lead to some form of englightenment. I'm not sure. I am looking forward to finding out.

Mankind is made of individuals and the future of the individual I'm excited about is my daughter who just got accepted into art school for gifted children. Next in line would be my own future but I'll leave that for some other time. And then I'm always there for my circle of real friend and in our small circle I see lots of success and bright future. That is as far as I can go, and I guess if every single of us shared the same little success story the world would be a nice place to live in.

While I recognize that the OP is merely trying to "get a rise" out of folks on this board, I think s/he raises an interesting topic--the future of mankind.

Personally, I am "thrilled" to have the intellectual/academic freedom to examine various points of view on the future of our planet and the various species that reside upon it--including humans. For example, I am free to recognize what most informed citizens have known for years--that the United Nations is a paper tiger that does not have the power to "ban religion" as the Watchtower claims it will do.

Further, when I see evidence of bristlecone pines with tree rings going back to before the supposed global flood, I no longer feel the need to explain that evidence away. Same thing with arctic ice cores dating back tens of thousands of years, and the myriad other geological and biological findings that conclusively prove that there was no global flood in Noah's time.

Additionally, when I read of ritual genital mutilation, slavery, and the slaughter of women and children in the name of God in the Bible, I no longer feel the need to try to reconcile that with a "God of love." Rather, I review the available evidence and come to the most likely conclusion--that what we call the Bible is merely a collection of stories, rituals, rules, and some actual history--all written by men.

What is the result of these realizations--a feeling of responsibility and accountability. As a JW, we had no accountability. To the contrary, we were taught that "in the very near future," God would kill all non-Witnesses and fix everything. All we had to do was go to meetings and go out in service, then just sit back and let God fix everything. Now--as a citizen of the real world--I realize that we have a responsibility to each other and to our planet. That's a sobering thought. But it's also liberating.

    Mad Jw,

Individuals like you are what drove me out of the organization, one of the most ignorant question/comments I have ever heard.
