Mankind has lasted this long, despite some pretty intellectually dark times imposed by religion.

I suspect that mankind will dontinue to improve, despite likely future hiccups in the God department.

And despite predictions of its imminent demise.

Jonathan Dough asked: When was the flood?

My response: the WTS claims that the global flood was in 2370 BCE (see Insight I, 450-51), "only" 4379 years ago. Other fundamentalists tend to agree (see, for example, http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v4/i1/noahs_flood.asp arguing for a slightly later 2304 date).

Thus, findings such as the following create tension for JWs and other fundamentalists: http://sonic.net/bristlecone/dendro.html (just one example, there's lots of info out there).

Well, Zagor- that is SAD. Too bad you "kept your eyes on the things below" (Men) rather than the "Things Above"( God). People will ALWAYS let you down, He won't... unless you leave Him.

Yes, the fact is that without faith (wether its real, or a fantasy)- all you have to look forward to is growing old and shrivelled up, and dying within a few years.

INSTINCTIVELY we ALL know there IS something more!

Billions of people will die this century, more than in any other time in the history of humanity on this planet.

However, the way I NOW see things, at least most people will get to live out a natural life span and won't die in some fantasy "Armageddon" as I used to believe when I was a Witness.

Well, nothing much has changed for me since I wasn't highly invested in that whole Armadillo thing.

I am looking forward to finally completing higher education now that I have the chance, which will be great. Looking forward to that.

I haven't had that "living forever" thought for quite some time now, and it always seemed kind of unreal tome in the first place, so life as usual for me.

But, tomorrow I'm helping put in a half acre garden, mostly veggies, so I'm definitely busy enough that I don't always sit around pondering the future.

I have no idea of what it will be...if you'd asked me 3 years ago where I'd be at the moment, there's no way I would have answered that'd I'd be living 1600 miles from where I had been living for 22 years and planting a garden, and going back to college. *G*

Well- even if "God" IS a fantasy- at least this 'fantasy' encourages people to be honest & kind, and cheers people up with high expectations for the future- wether fact OR fantasy!

However, there is PLENTY of facts and evidence we HAVE a Maker...

SW, if you are a Science buff, and STUDY their articles on "Nature", you will quickly see billions of cells, made of
countless billions of molecules, made of countless trillions of atoms, made of countless trillions and more trillions of sub-atomic particles...All arranged to co-operate together in systems- muscles, skeletons, organs,
nervous systems, etc, and designed in a manner allowing them to exist in different environments.
Thus, all living things are complex beyond full comprehension, and screams the fact we have a Maker!

(NOT to be cofused with CHURCHianity's Creationism, which is goofy beyond words!)
