Why do people say the god of the bible is Omnisciencent?

I have to call BS. If knowing possible outcomes is omniscience than we're ALL omniscient most of the time.
Having discernment and foresight is a long way from being all-knowing.

Knowing ALL possible outcomes of our choices is not somehting we all know, where did you get that?

Do you know that if you make a choice to cross the street that a car will hit you and you will lose your right leg?

God, if he is omniscient, knows that and he also knows that if you decide to turn back to get a umbrella that you WON'T get hit by the car, but God doesn't know WHICH of these choices you make NOR will he influence you in making them.

He knows the outcome of the choices, the far reaching outcomes.

It may not fall into YOUR view of omniscience but then again, God doesn't have to fall into our view of anything, unless he decides to.

How does an all knowing god, who allegedly created Adam & Eve - hope?

The same way He loves and hates - it's called emotions.

Sounds like your creepy garden God is as confused and illogical as you.

    I'm perfectly content, thank you.

    If that's your premise, why?

Because if God looked forward and knew Adam would sin and then Adam chose not to, then God would be wrong. If God can't be wrong and he looked forward and saw Adam had sinned, then Adam would HAVE to sin in order for God to be correct (see Fate in the reasoning book)

    God doesn't know

    Hence - not omniscient.

PSacramento - all you're saying is that God is aware of possibilities. And yes, all adults are aware that all of these things could happen. If that is all that God is capable of then what good is he? How could he possibly lay down any sweet prophecies if that was the case?

This statement should be bottled and distributed to every breathing thing.

More importantly, do midichlorians know that the Dark Side is using their power for evil?

I mean...if we're gonna argue about fairy tales...

Just as a side point - if I had been God and created Adam, Eve, and the tree -

I think I would have been more than just a little dissappointed if Adam had simply robotically obeyed the orders about the fruit, and was still wandering around that garden stark naked after how-ever many thousand years now. When is that guy going to show some initiative? A truly ROBOTIC ADAM could have done just that...

This thread is a good reason why the story really cannot go past a fable of intellectual morality - it fails to make any other sense on so many levels.

    No, thanks.

I threw away the "aids" and set out on faith.

He is aware of ALL posibilites and outcome, big difference.

    Example:

God decides to speak to you and you ask him, God will I win the lottery?

God: Yes, IF you decide play the lottery on this day at this time at this palce and play these numbers.

God knows but the decision is ours, God NOT telling us is keeping the "law" of free will in place.
