Hmmm. I like that. Has not quite as nasty a social smell as "Atheist".

I think that's SO very important.
I just finished a book called "The Little Book of Atheist Spirituality" which focuses on retaining the good that has been done by religion without buying into the supernatural.

Intolerance for what others THINK!
By extension, it then becomes about intolerance for what people think, say, write and do.
Bingo. Over time the more close minded and rabid win out in calling the shots on what defines the groups, control tightening and allowed behaviors and thoughts shrinking.
