"...the younger anointed contemporaries of those older anointed ones who discerned the sign when it became evident beginning in 1914 will not die off before the great tribulation starts!"

    Among other things...

The problem here is that the "sign" (for the sake of argument we'll assume one exists...) evidently did not become "evident beginning in 1914".

There simply are no "younger anointed contemporaries of those older anointed ones who discerned the sign when it became evident beginning in 1914." The "spirit-directed Organisation" did not discern it "beginning in 1914" -- rather, the Watch Tower Society continued to use all the means at its disposal to preach its admittedly false message that the "Time of the End" had begun in 1799. (The doctrine that the "Time of the End" had begun in 1914 was first taught in 1929.)

With all due respect to everyone here, why would anyone be surprised that so many JW's are swallowing this. How many times do we have to be burned by thinking that our JW loved ones would see through the lies. Whether it's showing them the falsehoods of the past or the current ones. Remember, this is all mind control. Check out this link. I'm not sure if this will take you directly to msn.com but go to this site and select Dateline under "Playlist" and check out the series of videos called "What were you thinking". Look at all six videos. Not sure if any of you saw this when it aired but I thought it was very interesting. Just imagine the indoctrination process of JW's as compared to the experiments that are conducted on this program.

PALMTREE- Yes, that's exactly what they are saying. That all the new and old anointed are one generation. It's physically impossible. A generation is only 30 years long

Palmtree, Are they saying that ALL of the annointed, no matter what century they are in, are all one generation?

I don't think that is quite what they are saying. The last 2008 teaching was that the generation was all anointed for the last 2000 years, but it seems that now they are restricting it to just the anointed since 1914. So they are only saying you are the same generation as your great-great grandmother. In another 30 years it will be your great-great-great-grandmother, unless of course they move 1914 to 2000 or some more relevant sounding date.

Here's the chart from jwfacts.com showing all the freaking times they've changed "this generation". Christ Almighty, they've revented this doctrine more times than Madonna has reinvented herself:

Do you think the average rank and file member really understands this? Or gives a crap?

Maybe most of them have just thrown up their hands and said, "Whatever! Why bother trying to understand it? It'll just change again in a few years!"

Palmtree - There are a few that are upset by the changes and every time a change like this occurs some of them leave. Most don't care, they just want to believe they have the truth and shelf any feelings of discomfort.

Others love the changes and are constantly waiting for new light to discuss. My mother was visiting Bethel in Brooklyn and found out the new teaching before it was announced. She came back excitedly telling everyone. I couldn't believe it, I expected she would have felt shame at how obvious it is that the GB just keep releasing garbage and having to change it - yet have the nerve to refer to themselves as spirit directed.

"Evidently" can only mean that they had to face facts and conclude from what's happened with "this generation" that those facts are in fact the evidence. In other words, they created their own "evidence". With such deceitful manipulation they can continue to create "evidence" until hell freezes over, knowing that the rank and file will swallow it without thinking. Common sense is easily circumvented with such tactics.

Ya. It's kind of like the blood doctrine. They've made such a mish-mash of it that many Witnesses don't even understand what they can and can't take. With 'this generation' changing so often in recent memory, I'm guessing that even though Witnesses are used to blindly playing Follow the Leader, this is so ridiculous that I think it just might cause a stir.

Here's what someone said to me about the change in generation teaching when I brought up the topic in some email exchanges:

the understanding of the generation is very clear to me and I have to tell you that what your thinking has changed hasnt changed at all. It still brings us to the same time of the end times. it hasnt got longer at all ..I actually freaked when I realized what the increased understanding meant as it was closer than I thought and i also know the Organization have no where to go now they have committed themselves 100% not as some think ..they have not bought any time at all...Ok Im going to try to explain here..so bear with me.
The generation that saw 1914 is the generation of the 140,000 those ones of that class that were already partaking at the memorial...so that means these ones would already have been of the age of maturity and if we took these at the age of maturity of 30 years old [keep in mind that ones of the 140,000 dont usually recognize themselves as such until older ] so then bring them up to the age most seen as the age we live too say another 46 years making them 76 years and the year 1960...now here comes the overlap everyone is excited about. The ones of the remnant that SEE 1960 are the ones that have replaced those of the remnant that have fallen away and have therefor given up their position as part of the 144,000..so they too would be of a mature age but we will use 30 years as a base line ok. So that brings those ones to around the 80year age group the age of mightiness in Jehovahs eyes. So consider this...no more overlaps...the age of those left with us and remember some will pass through Armageddon into the New System ..not many left and they are averaging 70-90 years old. Absolutely no other explanations can be made the Organizations material has made that very clear..Consider too all the composite sign talked about in Mathew...put it all together and what have you got...The last days..end times and the brink of the great tribulation. So if anything the whole generation picture became clearer to me and I was delighted to fully understand it.
