Tec, you've still got the ol' bible ball-and-chain on your brain...
Nope. I've got Christ on my brain... and in my heart. I listen to Him. Without Him, I might reassess. Well... I WOULD reassess. But with Him, I neither can nor will.

PS - I like the fish, octopus, eel story. I thought it would be a comparison on how the different nations and people got different religions altogether, though they still understood that something was sacred... just their ideas and perception on that were different.
Got to think about the rest of the article, still.

Tec, you should read the "Code of Hammurabi", which is roughly contemporary with the earliest recorded bible writings....
Then there's the Egyptian holy writings, which PRE-DATE the bible by around a thousand years...
While you're at it, you might read about the Goddess Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, who PRE-DATES the bible by a couple of thousand years...
She was around long before "Jesus" was a gleam in a plagiarizing Greco-influenced Jewish male's eye...
By the way, "Jesus" was plagiarized from several sources, but especially the Greek God Dionysus, deity of wine, revelry and life. Dionysus was "sacrificially executed" - in a religious belief system - around 300 - 500 years BEFORE "Jesus" was a gleam in a plagiarizing Greco-influenced Jewish male's eye...
Also check out the Grecian "Elysian Mysteries" if you want to further understand where the bible's "Jesus" came from...
I prefer research to emotionalism... That's why I DON'T believe in the bible.

I have, and other ancient writings about morality and treatment of others. Truths are truths, and should transcend cultures.

I have not read anything about her, but I said on the other thread (LeavingWT's) that the beliefs and people in the bible predate the bible as well. Bible is just a written account.

I have checked out the comparisons of Jesus and many other god-men, including Dionysus, and the comparisons don't hold up to scrutiny. The people making them, therefore, don't hold up to scrutiny regarding their research ability and/or integrity.

Haven't checked this one out yet, but I have to say, after all the research I did as stated above, I am not concerned in the least. Nor do I feel that I need to check out every single claim of Jesus as a copycat anything. But I will look at this one, since you asked.

I did research too, and then I regretted not trusting my faith to begin with... I don't regret doing the research though, I just regret that the claims made me doubt my faith - even if only for a short while. However, I have to say that I trust emotionalism more - if emotionalism is what you call love, mercy, humility, etc - (I don't trust anger, bitterness, regret or any of the negative emotions). Not saying you don't live by love as well, Zid, but I try to live by it first and foremost.

As usual, the airy, fairy, stuff & nonsense "I've got Jesus in my heart" brigade manage to smother another topic in their suffocating blanket of gooey theobabble.
Here's a suggestion; 'Start your own fricking thread and stop killing mine'!
Yeah! Stop crashing the party! Let's get back to Christian-bashing! That's lots more fun!

Hey, I was responding to something said to me... I didn't start the derailment of anything, I was just following the curve of the thread...but I apologize for my part in that.
So to answer your question,
I think it depends on how He would be proven.
If here and now we somehow proved his existence through scientific methods, well, then I think there would still be a battle on whose version was right, and which God we proved to be true. Those with weaker faith would be strengthened, and those with pure faith... well, nothing would change.
If here and now He revealed himself, then it would still depend on HOW he revealed himself. So depending on the method, there could be joy and humility and repentance, or fear and panic and running and hiding... or a mixture of both.

Now, now, Nic.
If you didn't want Jesus mentioned, you should have so stated from the outset.

I thought the thread was bout the existance of God... how did Jesus get interjected?
