Billy Graham says Christians Don't Actually Hear the Voice of God

Among the individuals who feel it's a personal thing, we observe massive disagreements with mutually exclusive beliefs.

While I disagree with "MASSIVE", you say that as if it was a bad thing.

Paul, Peter and James, didn't always agree.

Paul and Barnabas don't always agree.

Some that wrote Paul's letters for him didn't always agree with what he said.

Jesus held Peter, John and James in a special way, but Peter and John had different views about Jesus and his nature and such or at least expressed their views in different ways.

There has always been a "difference" of opinin between believers about certian things, but the core tends to be very solid:

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Lord and Saviour he died and was ressurected and through him we receive the gift of Grace and the Holy Spirit.

Well I would like to thank Billy Graham for his insight, but I think most of us already knew that there is no such thing as a voice of god/christ/supreme being. Any percieved 'voices' are a direct result of chemical/electrical processes occuring in our brain. The heart is an organ. It pumps blood.

I hear voices from the sky sometimes. Well, from the ceiling, to be more accurate. And always at the office during work hours.

    LeavingWT:

Believers can either (1) respect/accept some sort of authority (Vatican, WT, Billy Graham, etc)

Our Lord said that such religious “authority” has been arrogated by them. He said ‘to leave them alone. Blind guides is what they are and into a pit they will fall.’ Do YOU want to fall into that same pit?

or (2) feel that's it's a personal thing, with each person knowing what it means to be a Christian and follow Jesus.

Indeed! It is a personal thing as ‘He calls his own out personallyby name.’ He says so himself.

Among the individuals who feel it's a personal thing, we observe massive disagreements with mutually exclusive beliefs.

You forget, sir/madam, that in a large house with many servants, the Master of the house gives directives as he so chooses to whichever of his servants whom he chooses. Said another way, not all servants are given the same directives.

It's as clear as mud, to outsiders.

    Exactly! To “outsiders.”

Question: How do you know you aren't hearing Allah's voice?

Answer: Because you don't live in a Muslim-predominant country. (Edit)

Inkie: You do know this, don’t you.

You give me doctrine. It's Christian, Bible-believing doctrine. I don't subscribe to that anymore. I so disagree now. Virtually everyone is worthy to personally hear His words directly from His (figurative) mouth to our literal ears and/or brain. I won't do His will until He tells me what it is. If I am unworthy by His standards, unchosen to receive undeserved kindness, or not shown the mercy, I am okay with that. Still, Christians can stop worrying about me, I will wait for His call. Maybe if I don't feed my fish or get my letters in the mail, God will speak through my wife to get my attention.

You want to call me out because I was an elder? Heck, I would call out the whole friggin' JW's religion that made ME an elder. But I have admitted that. It ain't no badge of knowledge and special glory to me. Okay, good job on that. Otherwise, why don't you take off your headphones and see if the Lord has any important messages for you?

But if you do subscribe to Christianity, then you should know that God (or the Lord or His messenger, call it whatever) doesn't make sure you feed the dog and mail your packages. While those might be highly important things to you, I would hope God is telling some drunk heathen atheist not to swerve and kill that grandmother with his Buick.

That reminds me, I hear the voice of Richard Dawkins sometime.

It helps that I have The God Delusion audio book.

Inkie: Sometimes you all really amaze with your ignorance. No offense is intended, please.

Yes, I can see where people would be offended at someone like you calling them ignorant. Good thing you mention it isn't intended.

It's not "bad" unless it's necessary for a Christian to be concerned with "correct belief". Some of the larger groups are most definitely concerned with correct belief. Indeed, not having the correct belief equals eternal damnation to them.

WHile I certainly don't agree with anyone using the word or even use it myself, we have to admit that the word "ignorant" is thrown around here more than "jehovah', LOL !
