mrsjones5 The bible I read says there are many spiritual gifts manifesting in the body of Christ. Why doesn't the bOrg agree with the bible?
The borg it is nothing to do with the body of Christ and it hates the message of the bible.
Jude 1:4 (New International Version)
4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
2 Peter 3:16 (New International Version)
16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
1 John 2:19 (New International Version)
19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
The gifts of the Spirit are written about extensively in the New Testament. If you want to see prophecy, speak in tongues, interpretation of tongues, healing, words of knowledge, miraculous powers in action you need to find believers who are baptised in the Spirit, not just water, same as these dudes at Ephesus.
Acts 19 (New International Version)
1 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"
They answered, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit."
3 So Paul asked, "Then what baptism did you receive?"
"John's baptism," they replied.
4 Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.
