One day a kid I was friends with at school showed up at our front door with a gift for my birthday. My father was not well pleased. lol.

We always went out Christmas Day. Me in my short trousers calling on the kids at school. It was soooo much fun.

What with the poltergiests, no christmas birthdays or presents, endless meetings and field service and no education to speak of which led to menial work, no girlfriends growing up a JW loads of fun.

No never went in FS on Christmas,that I can remember..

Mostly we stayed in the house and avoided contact with the outside world..

My mom would say..

"Look at those poor kids..They only get presents once a year..Jehovah`s Witness`s can give presents all year round"..

I would think she was "Retarded" and say nothing..

If I said anything she would Scream and Beat the Shit out of me..

LOL!!..

That's the reality of Christmas in a JW Home..

It really doesn't matter what the record of the Bible is or says other than cultural references and such and to learn about the Jewish side of my ancestry.

Some religions are strict, that is their preogative, all have their rules and creeds. Now we are free to choose.

Sorry man I know it must have been tough, one of my buddies in my first congregation had a Dad, Assistant PO, who was like that, literally kicked and stomped his son in front of me for one little blurb. Yes we are free to choose but our choice is important it shows where our heart is.

When apostles preached God's word in other cultures did they then make-over their idols, practises and celebrations and stuck Jehovah or his son on them?

Tradesmen that made a lot of money out of pagan practises had reason to try and stop Paul because they were losing their trade over Pauls preaching God's word and way.

More than likely individuals birthdays were not held because dating ones own birthday wasn't a social practice.
