    Villabolo,

Sorry mate, I didn't grasp the vividness of your metaphors.

Lindzen has been characterized as a contrarian, in relation to climate change and other issues. [ 55 ] [ 56 ] [ 57 ] Lindzen's graduate students describe him as "fiercely intelligent, with a deep contrarian streak." [ 58 ]

He is brilliant...and stands up for his principals. MIT wouldn't employ him if he didn't have the goods. In his case, being a contrarian is a good thing. Obiously, the House Committee on Science and Technology respected him enough to hear his testimony.

Coffee who left the wt because I was/am a contrarian.

:Bohm, Villa, you are wasting your time with these morons.
Great argument. Worthy of you and your rapier sharp mind.

I made no argument, I merely advised my friends not to waste thier time.

That's all well and good Coffee, but to be contrary for the sake of it is useless.

He's not a contrarian for the sake of being contrary. Read his stuff. He teaches Climate at MIT.

    Liberty83:

"Villabolo, where is that image from? Is it a compilation of data from weather stations, or from satelites? Satelite data tends to be much more accurate because there aren't the extensive coverage problems that one finds with weather stations."

Liberty83, The anomaly image that I showed came from NASA and I believe is based on a composite of both since it covers a time period before 1979 when the first full year reports started coming in from satellites.

The image below comes from NSIDC and is satellite based.

    http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/2011/010511.html

The temperature chart below is strictly satellite based as well and it indicates the stepwise increase in Global Warming. It's data is processed by Roy Spencer from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Ironically, Spencer is a denier of man made Global Warming and still wants to believe that things will cool down in spite of what his own temperature charts indicate.

I wrote an article which got published on Skeptical Science using his charts alone to expose the fallacy of "Global Cooling".

    http://www.skepticalscience.com/Did-global-warming-stop-in-1998-1995-2002-2007-2010.html

The same chart below with trend line that I added to highlight where temperatures are going.

And finally, a sarcastic rendition showing how "skeptics" take limited portions of a chart, starting at a carefully selected year, in order to draw a bogus, downward pointing trend line. Lord Monckton has actually done that but, of course, he completely eliminates the portions of the chart that inconvenience him.
