MadSweeney...this is true. Evolution is not even remotely presented for what it is about or how it works. It is all wrapped up into one little word - chance.
This argument is repeated ad nauseum: "What do you think, was our complex eye designed or did it happen by chance?"
They might as well say: "What do you think, was our complex eye designed or did it fly out of a rhino's ass on some idle Tuesday afternoon?"
The reply, delivered with self righteous smugness was, "I'll wait on Jehovah."

Mad Sweeney, I feel your frustration. There is so many times I wanted to call one of these self-righteous hypocrites out, but you have to choose your battles. JWs can be VERY vindictive and if you are still in a sensitive fading position, any kind of outburst (even justified) can blow your whole operation. Sometimes you just have to lose the battle to win the war. But don't think you're alone in that mind-numbingly frustrating situation.
I now feel like an official member of JWN now that OUTLAW has posted on one of my topics. Mr. Falcon has finally arrived, sir.

Yep, last summer. Extremely informative for someone who spent the majority of their life thinking evolution was the devil's work. If you don't really know much about evolution, this book is a great starting point. Lays it all out, and the evidence is overwhelming.

Thanks to the WT$, I was one of those who spent my life thinking evolution was the devil's work, until I woke up from the JW cult. Once I realized the bible was pure BS I started to think: "Wait a minute, if I was wrong about the bible, how can I still believe in creation?" It was time I looked into evolution deeply & properly, I watched a few videos on it and then I saw Dawkins book and thought: "This looks like a great book to start with" . . .

3Mozzies, I concur with unshackled, its a very good book and i learned a lot from it, you know the book is good when it can make you exited about cabbage ;-).
JWs always attack evolutionary theory based on the assumption that Darwin was this evil anti-God athiest whose ideas are an affront to God himself.
Yes. This is their approach that they have found works to keep the flock from daring to take a peek into reality. [In fact the approach of much, if not all, religion when faced with ideas that contradict their ideology.]
Deny. If that fails - attack the messenger. If that too fails - attack the member who dares consider it, even stoning them in the streets if you can get away with it.
