The use of the pun, changing the word to convey an insult, is not especially clever. There is nothing offensive about being called a mexican. But if someone changed the label in such a way as to denigrate it (I'll leave that to your own imagination) you would not be so amused.
Is "Kingdumb Hall" really an offensive term?

I hope so. They're insane if they think they can go through life condemning and insulting all non jws without consequence.

So is this an insult? : "Jehovahs Witness are ignorant, irrational, superstitious and close minded people"

How you use language comes down to what you want to accomplish. You can use words to inflict injury, to enrage, to badger, to humiliate, to denigrate, to frighten, to punish, to educate, to encourage, to comfort, to praise and to persuade. What message do you want to convey?

@Finally-Free True True !
Some folk seem more snivellingly sensitive about hurting the poor little dubbies' feelings than they are about those of us who have been tragically hurt by the dubbies! Who is it that breaks up families? Not me by saying 'Grovelling Baddies of the Filthful Saliva cl-arse'
Get over it!

Substitute any discrete group of people for "Jehovah's Witnesses" and you will answer your own question. You could, for example, substitute the word "Americans" on the basis that Americans constitute the most religious group of people on earth. Do you think Americans would find the statement insulting?

We use words to communicate. That what I want to do, communicate. When I say Jehovahs Witness are ignorant I want to convey exactly that. Their lack of knowledge, in general, and the irony is that specially in religious topics and about the Bible.
So if I say the are IGNORANT even if they find it offensive all I am doing is describing them. IF they find it insulting.. then honesty will make you analize yourself and do something about it.
If I say 'your breath stinks' you can call it offensive or you can go wash your mouth and get a mint.

You are also describing 7 million people with one brush-stroke which is unfair. I think the major thing here is whether you are being insulting vs. giving constructive criticism. Yes, it is insulting to say your breath stinks probably. Try that on a date, see how it goes. Perhaps, "Care for a piece of gum" would work better.
"I find the work of JW's to be intellectually dishonest because of xxxxxx research into the quotes of the Craetion book or xxxxxx inaccurate translations of this word from the ancient Greek" etc etc etc.... is going to go a lot further than "Jehovah's witlesses are retards who waste their time in field circus"

It's trivial and counterproductive, imo.

I agree with all the points Nick made. Not offensive to me, no, but not particularly clever either (just my opinion).
At one time I was worried about the effect such terms might have on honest doubters who lurk. But now I think if someone has allowed themselves to make it this far, they're probably either on their way out or just looking to argue for fun (Spade).
