  I completely agree with others who've said that there are more than two alternatives.

  I am a Christian who has never been one of JW's. I can't fully understand what you're going through. But I can say that the Watchtower has been less than honest when they talk about other Christian groups - what they believe, how they worship and so on.

  Please don't adopt the mindset that your choices are to return to the witnesses or lead a life of drugs, excessive drinking, debauchery & the like. I can tell you that most people don't live lives like that, Christian, non Christian, athiest, or anyone else.

  Take some time before you return. Take the suggestion above: Learn HOW to think. You've been conditioned by the Watchtower.

  The alternative is not black & white.

  just thinking how I wake up everyday and how everything in my body works in such a precise manner, how the earth is set up with the oceans and mountain and how the sun comes up everyday and i could go into detail for days on how everything is set up so perfectly around us

  So obviously you're not a woman who has ever given birth. If that's "set up perfectly" by your standards then, I'd hate for you to design my house. I'd have to squeeze through a mouse door to get out while breaking it apart. 10 to 30% of the time the house or myself would not survive unless I had a construction crew/doctors on hand to mend us back together after I left. But hey, that's pefection for you.

  OK - here goes:

  (49 reg weekly meeting x6 hours of prepping and attending) + ( 52 service days x 3 hours of prepping and knocking on doors) + (5 whole days of entire assemblies + 1 full day to travel to DC x 24) = bare minimum req. to be a JW = 570 hours a year. That is the bare minimum required to be a JW.

  just n from bethel, I think for forgot there are TWO special assembly days and TWO circuit assemblies. Add in 96 more hours for that, plus having to DVR all your favorite shows and meetings interfering with important shit like, watching football and playing golf.

  EP - not anymore. but it's hard to believe it was once worse. more assemblies - longer assemblies, more meetings. more magazines to read.

  This is just my opinion but what is so great about not serving god his requirements are easy! And to pass up a possible reward just to live your life the way you want is it really worth it?

  A "worldly" associate of mine had this reason very given to him by his Christian friend.

  If there's even just 1% chance that the religion is right, isn't it worth taking that risk since the rewards are enormous?

  The problem is that this reasoning can, and is, used by every religion out there. If you are a mormon, everyone else is screwed. If you are a JW, then everyone else is screwed. If you are a Muslim, then everyone else is screwed. In other words, even if you live your life by a particular religion hoping to get a big payoff, that chances of THAT particular religion being correct are also quite small. In that case, you're no worse off not being in any particular religious group (as there's a small chance that maybe Jesus just likes independent Christians who have gotten out of organized religion), who knows?

  It's like going to a casino to win a prize, but there's only one casino in the world that actually gives any prizes and there's no way of knowing for sure which one it is (though everyone is certain that the casino they're at is the right one. Why? because they have already made a big emotional and/or financial investment into thir particular casino).

  Because you would deliberately be a party to the perpetuating of destructive lies and practices that result in the systematic ritual abuse of children and the crushing of their hearts and minds. You would be acquiescing to the character assassination and defamation of all those who gave you support while you were going through your little crisis- something akin to the betrayal of yourself and all of us here. But betrayal aside, you would be a hypocrite, and unless you are in a place where you can murder your own conscience and slip completely and seemlessly back into your coma of cognitive dissonance, you will be found out, and you will be put out.

  Weird. My ex took the kids to the CA in the fall and is taking them again this month. Are there really not two circuit assemblies per year anymore?
