I am not baptized-but the fds dont tell anyone to stay off internet sights-they suggest not to be on sights, but its for the weak ones who could be swayed.(sic)
@kjw53 That explains a lot. You're still new. You're dumbfounded at all the wondrous new things you're being shown by the Society. You're in awe at the wisdom of the "faithful and discreet slave" as obviously the sole mouthpiece of God, since you've never heard any of this before.
Actually, it was all right there in the Bible long before the Watchtower came along. If you'd have just read it, people understood what God was saying before churches started confusing people. But, people would rather let their church tell them what the Bible says than read it for themselves. Granted, for quite a bit of human history, reading the Bible for yourself wasn't much of an option. But for the last few hundred years, that hasn't been a viable excuse. Still, rather than be bothered with reading a big, boring book like the Bible, most just let the preacher do our homework for us and rely on his Cliff's Notes version.
So, like a 9-year-old girl in the presence of Justin Bieber, you're star-struck. Is this the correct attitude to have? It's obvious you're basically saying "I belong to the 'faithful slave'."
For when one says: “I belong to Paul,” but another says: “I to A·pol′los,” are YOU not simply men? What, then, is A·pol′los? Yes, what is Paul? Ministers through whom YOU became believers, even as the Lord granted each one. I planted, A·pol′los watered, but God kept making [it] grow; so that neither is he that plants anything nor is he that waters, but God who makes [it] grow. Now he that plants and he that waters are one, but each [person] will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers. YOU people are God’s field under cultivation, God’s building. - 1Cor 3:4-9
So, Paul, an apostle of Christ, both appointed and inspired by Holy Spirit, spread the Word while taking no credit for himself. He realized it was not his message he was sharing. He was blessed by God with the opportunity to share in such a holy work. He didn't get a swelled head and think more of himself than necessary. Never once did he attempt to leverage the appreciation of those he taught into self-glorification. No; in fact, Paul was self-deprecating, if anything. He often spoke of his human frailties and what a 'miserable man' he was without God and Christ to save him.
As Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet and did obeisance to him. But Peter lifted him up, saying: “Rise; I myself am also a man.” - Rom 10:25-26
Is this the sort of thing we hear from the Governing Body? No! We hear how we need to obey and submit to them, because Jesus left them in charge. Rather than sounding like mature, spiritual, humble men, they sound like a tween-age girl left to babysit her younger siblings while mom goes to a dentist appointment. How should a messenger of God act?
At that I fell down before his feet to worship him. But he tells me: “Be careful! Do not do that! All I am is a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who have the work of witnessing to Jesus. Worship God; for the bearing witness to Jesus is what inspires prophesying.” - Rev 19:10
We have the Governing Body of the Watchtower corporation telling us - in no uncertain terms - how they're the boss of us. They use vague references to pieces of Bible verses which then require entire magazine articles to extrapolate into this hierarchy. Meanwhile, they totally ignore mountains of very clear scriptures which plainly forbid this sort of human leadership and lust for power among Christians. Neither apostles nor angles would dare to accept - much lest demand, like a 4-year old throwing a tantrum in a supermarket - this sort of worshipful adoration as some sort of proxy-Christ.
