And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony

Just curious, what do you believe will happend to someone like me in that periode?

I believe you and others will experience hardships, also, but Christians will bear the brunt of the tribulation.

is this the 1/3 of the worlds population will die-thing from revelations?

Nope. I do not yet have a handle on the 1/3 thingy.

    BOHN,

Penny isn't God, who can know for sure whether or not Frank didn't make Jesus his Lord with his dying breath? One thing is for sure, if he died without Jesus as his Lord and Savior, then he is in Hell.

Penny: If i was Franks wife, i dont know how i would be able to enjoy eternity in heaven knowing he was in hell, suffering every moment of every day for billions upon billions of years. I simply dont get it.

And i dont understand why more christians arent calling you out on this, i think its a terrible, awfull idea which would only appeal to very few people.

    Bohm,

There are differences of opinion in the Christian community on hell. Some believe the fire is literal and some believe it is symbolic. But I think both groups would agree that hell is not a pleasant place for those there are in "eternal torment" and "weeping and nashing" their teeth. So Hell is a place where suffering is going on.

Another difference in view is that some believe you will go to hell EVEN IF you never had an opportunity to hear about Christ, while other Christians believe that is not so, and that every person will be given a witness about the Christ before being sent to hell. That is what some believe will happen during the resurrection time, some have a resurrection of life and some a resurrection of judgement. How they do in the jugement will be the deciding factor on their eternal dwelling place.

Most Christians do not believe in universal salvation, for this is not biblical. Clearly according to the scriptures not everyone will be saved.

    Hope this information helps, Lilly

lil, Could you imagine living all eternity in heaven knowing someone you loved, perhaps a husband or a daughter, was in hell? could you enjoy that?

the idea is crazy.. i got no other word for it. if someone i knew was being hurt, i would be going out of my skull.

The bible gives bits and peices of the reality of the destination of the unredeemed. Jesus talked about the rich man being in a hot, uncomfortable place. In another place he spoke of "outer darkness" where there would be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The eternal souls of those that reject God experiece a total absence of anything Good, but apparently varying levels of punishment, in a place where there is no time. Do the details really matter?

    bohm,

I understand what you are saying.

Hell is reserved for the finally unrepentent during the Judgement. I always believed these are the people who although God reveals himself to them, they still reject him. God does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants all to repent and be saved. (1timothy2:3-5).

Like Perry said, we don't know all the details but Hell is a literal place that is for sure.

    Do the details really matter?

Of course the details matter! It is Christians like you who take one Scriptre from that collection of ancient myths and recovered fragments of letters that you call the Bible, and make a complete doctrine out of it, even though you know that the Bible can be played like an old guitar to any tune. There is no conclusive evidence that people who read the Hebrew Scriptures believed in Hell: the OT contradicts the NT in too many ways to count.
