Maybe Jesus was just a ordinary guy who posed himself as a demi-god, a savior to the Masses.

The gospels were written 100 years after he died, were they not .

There were many men who claimed or posed themselves as living gods in ancient times as history has shown. ( Ceasars )

Being put up on a torture stake to die a slow and painful death would scare the crap out of anyone.

Why why would he have to pose as a God, the telephone game can take care of that after he died.

So his blood pressure was so high that the blood vessels near his sweat glands actually ruptured and hemorraged mixing sweat with blood. . . ?

Sounds like a pretty serious medical condition for a perfect guy.

If he was god in human form, why all the agony, ahead of the actual suffering. It would have been a piece of cake: rise above the pain, while not denying or mitigating it, observe and experience it fully, without being overcome. Or, was he overcome? A bit wimpy, imo.

He was fully human in bodily form, ANYTHING that could happen to us could have happened to Him.

He knew what was coing, He knew what it meant and He Knew how it was going to feel and He knew He was going to feel it, ALL of it.

    I'd probably shit a brick.

Sure, you would and i would. But, as the story goes, he already emptied himself, basically emptied himself of the infinite power and potential of being the almighty god in heaven. Losing just a teeny weaney little bit more in death, nothing compared to what he had already lost. He would have already experienced infinite loss. That kind of loss changes a person. Experiencing a bit more loss in the form of his suffering and breaking down body over a period of a few hrs would have been next to zilcho. Anyhoo, he knew that he was going to rise again, and get it ALL back. Please try to see the bigger picture.

    Satanus,

The connection he had with The Father, was always there duirng his time as a human except when he was crucififed, at the point where he asks why he had been foresaken.

As for him knowing he was going to rise again and get it all back...not sure how that is the "bigger picture" of what Jesus may or may not have been feeling.

I don't think the historical Jesus was any sort of poser at all. I just think his more outspoken followers were too thick to really "get" what he was about. The books written decades later were written by these people with a decidedly Jewish perspective even though Jesus apparently railed against the traditional Judaism of his day in the strongest of terms. They STILL didn't get it, for the most part.

He ceased being god, from then?? Why would god cut him off, anyway? He was god, for petes sake.

'As for him knowing he was going to rise again and get it all back...not sure how that is the "bigger picture" of what Jesus may or may not have been feeling.'

Obviously, since he was getting everything back, he knew that his suffering was temporary. If you knew that if you went through the same thing as jesus did, that you could live as long as you wanted afterward, have all the money or whatever you wanted afterward, would you do it?

I've never heard any convincing evidence he actually existed.

I think of it like this. The Greeks and Romans never met their gods either. It was always a previous generation who actually saw the gods and their miracles. What really happened is people made up stuff and pretty soon it developed into a collection of short stories that were related but disjointed (because they were made up by totally different people).

It became a rumor so people started believing it was true.
