Now the Tea Party dominated Republicans want to enslave children! Yet they have the audacity to say that violent insurrection is needed against those who oppose them!!!

Child Labor... Sure! I am concerned about any exploitation of individuals who work for others. I think there should be regulation in place to eliminate any such exploitiation.

On the same note I think we should drop the national speed limit down to 15 miles per hour. This would save over 11,000 lives annually (based on the 2008 Census Speeding Related Fatalities).

(of course that is a bit of sarcasm)...

    Yeah Terry.

    I get it.

You keep inferring that I'm some kind of uneducated moron.

Whatever you are--it isn't honest. You didn't answer my 2 questions, for example. Why is that?

Bottom line there are no real choices out there and there cannot be due to the pyramid shaped distribution of wealth

I fear for your sanity; I really do. Who exactly is it that CONTROLS this "distribution"?

Buying is voluntary. Selling is voluntary. Nobody is compelled to work where they do not wish to work.

Would you volunatrily pay too much for something? Why would an employer pay too much for an unskilled worker? It

Your grasp of economy is vanishingly minute.

The economy is based on an exchange. The employee exchanges their workskills for pay. The employer exchanges the paycheck

for the task performed by the worker. The customer exchanges their money for the goods and services.

NOBODY IS DISTRIBUTING anything except by force of Government!

I live in the actual world. What world do you inhabit?

Terry: "Whatever you are--it isn't honest. You didn't answer my 2 questions, for example. Why is that?"

Why is it that YOU IGNORED my answers to your two questions? You stop answering questions at your convenience, Terry.

Your knee jerk response is always to bow down to manipulators of labor without giving a damn about slavery. I already told you that with full blooded slavery you would have the same identical arguments. Bottom line Terry, you and your kind create nothing; labor at nothing; invent nothing.

Now why don't you have the courage to stay on topic? Is it because you don't want a part of your true self to come out? Let's talk about the highly increased potential for twelve year old children to be raped and abused on the basis of that Missouri bill that I keep posting and you keep running away from. About how the author of the bill would remove any type of oversight over employers of young children.

Get a spine and some guts, Terry. Reveal the fact that you don't give a rat's turd about the exploitation and rape of children. Why should you when that would have the rotten smell of altruism? To put it in your consciousless language, "I do not have a stake in the plight of____. Fill in that blank with anyone that doesn't grovel at your feet. Or even those that do.

You claim that you fear for my sanity? A world composed of Randians would, for the short period it would last, be the ultimate insanity.

You keep going in mindless circles; repeating the same shallow philosophy that degrades humanity down to a bunch of Master/Slaves tossing coins at each other. You constantly repeat the same questions without the ability to comprehend that an answer has been given.

Go worship your demon god Mammon. Throw a few sacrificial pennies at him on my behalf.

    Now you've simply become loathesome.

Terra's response: The loathesome one is he who keeps dodging the issue of this thread.

Those were the days my friend

    We thought they'd never end

We'd sing and dance forever and a day

We'd live the life we choose

    We'd fight and never lose

For we were young and sure to have our way.

    La la la la...

Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

    We objectivists hate the weak.

    What stake do I have in the plight of the Indian; children;

let me cut to the chase; what stake do I have with the rest of humanity?

TI, based on your arguments in support of this thread, it looks like you want to completely eliminate any possible exploitation of child labor. While this is a noble cause, it's impracticle in the real world. Not only would you have to eliminate any child labor, but enforcement would be nearly impossible.

I think about the number of hours I spent selling books and magazines as a JW kid not getting paid - that wasn't even a job and I look back at that as exploitation.

Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA), as amended
    (
    29 USC ยง201 et seq29 CFR Parts 510 to 794

The Act applies to enterprises with employees who engage in interstate commerce, produce goods for interstate commerce, or handle, sell, or work on goods or materials that have been moved in or produced for interstate commerce. For most firms, a test of not less than $500,000 in annual dollar volume of business applies (i.e., the Act does not cover enterprises with less than this amount of business).

    Terra,

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Obviously, there are already businesses that are exempt from the minimum wage laws of the federal government, and they always have been. As you are apparently not aware, Federal law supercedes any state laws.

Please get a clue before boring the rest of us with your ignorant, one-sided, and worthless posts.

    Thank you,

    Drew
