Now the Tea Party dominated Republicans want to enslave children! Yet they have the audacity to say that violent insurrection is needed against those who oppose them!!!

From the age of 12 I worked with my Uncle who was a brick layer. We went to work before sunrise and continued unabated until sundown.

I worked about 60 hours a week and made TEN BUCKS. Was I forced? No, I LOVED earning my own money. It made my back strong and gave me a lovely tan. I also worked with my grandfather making signs and creating department store displays.

My own kids (nobody asked them to) when they were in their early teens would go door to door at the apartment complexes and take people's trash out

for a dollar. Most tenants hated to do it themselves. My daughter earned money babysitting.

When each of my kids turned 18 they moved themselves out and got their own apartment and job. My youngest daughter (of the first 3) put herself

through college working all the while.

    None of this was forced.

My kids knew how to work, wanted to work, appreciated the value of earning money and are instilling this in their own kids.

Under Terra's definition this is child slavery, exploitation and rape.

I wonder what Terra does for a living and what working background story he has to offer?

I prayed for snow too, I went shoveling people's sidewalk/driveway for $3-5 dollars in the early 80's

I was working when I was 12/13. It was great way to make a few bucks. I wasn't a slave. I would have taken as much work as I could. By the time I was 15, I bought an old trailer to hitch to my 16 y/o friends car to take lawnmowers and rakes to do yards together. When I was 16 I was going to pioneer, but my elder dad told me to get a job. That was great advice.

... Is it because you don't want a part of your true self to come out? Let's talk about the highly increased potential for twelve year old children to be raped and abused on the basis of that Missouri bill that I keep posting and you keep running away from...

Are you saying Terry would condone the rape and abuse of children? That's absurd. On what basis do you know for a FACT that would occur, the rapping and abusing of children, if, and I say if that bill became law. You read tarot cards, got a crystal ball to gaze into. These are proposed bills which I doubt would become law.

What age limit should be set? Unless it's changed, in Texas the age is 16, that's if you work at a place of bussiness. I'm 61, have worked since the age of ten, doing whaterver I could find to make money. Like Farkle I mowed lawns, offered my service to clean up around peoples homes and so forth. There was always somewhere to make money, if YOU wanted too. What was your age when you entered the work force? Are we to assume that rape and abuse doesn't occur in the adult work place? Naw, that would be a strech would it not?

What I don't understand is what seems to be your hatered of Terry. On one thread you called him a racist, that's a laugh, as much of a laugh as your allusion he would condone child rape and abuse. Don't get it, really don't. Sigh, I'll probably fall into guilt by assosiation. Now you can have another person to despise.

One more thing. This is totaly my opinion. I feel if Democrats had introduced these bills you would praise them for their farsighted vision and this ad hominem topic would not have seen the light of day. But, that's just me.

Young people should work more and learn early what it means to earn something by providing something valuable to others. We are raising a bunch of entitlement minded losers these days!

If teens don't work, they'll pay in the long run

Grandstanding for attention is not the same as persuading through a better argument.

Creating emotional pejorative contexts and inflating the rhetoric into exaggerated stereotypes is common to Propaganda.

Propaganda is a powerful weapon used to dehumanize and create hatred toward a supposed enemy, either internal or external, by creating a false image in the mind. This can be done by using derogatory or racist terms, avoiding some words or by making allegations of enemy atrocities.

Attaching vulgar images and ridicule to an opponent to belittle them rather than besting them with reasoned argument illustrates the weakness of their position and the hollowness of their cause.

The worst horrors of this world come from poverty, cruelty, and lack of compassion. I don't understand how people can think that that is what "freedom" and "liberty" is about.

Take away a baby's WIC and foodstamp bought baby food? dump people out of their wheelchairs, all while wearing pins that say "Don't tread on me" like the people that stompped on that lady's head at the Rand Paul thing were?

Same with me - except I was working in my grandfather's chemistry laboratory after school standardizing reagents. I didn't even get paid, except for my regular allowance. When I grew up - 1960s - kids WANTED to work; it was how you learned real world skills.

I haven't responded to this thread for the same reasons, Quentin. In my opinion, it was started as a provacation (reference the screaming title) for no other purpose than to start an argument. The OP has another one started today along the same lines. I for one have better things to do with my posts.
