If Republicans are so sure they can win the vote, why do they keep passing laws making it hard for Democrats to vote?

The Supreme Court, in a 6-3 decision, ruled that it's Constitutional. End of story, for all intents and purposes.

If you support voter ID, then you support that idea that only people eligible to vote CAN vote. If you don't support voter ID, then you support the idea that people who are ineligible to vote CAN vote.

It's not about should, it's about CAN.

    Illegal voters disenfranchise legal voters!

As usual, BTS, comes out with a black/white either/or scenario.

Maybe someone doesn't support these particular voter ID laws BECAUSE of the WAY it way they are written. Maybe if these laws INCLUDED AS MANDATORY vouchers as stated above or included language such as making these ID's free and easy access, easy to obtain such as for the elderly who can't even leave their homes sometimes, or students with no vehicles to get to a DMV or no way to prove their city of residence, maybe there should be a "we will go to you" system ... but Nah ... that's not what these laws do! They make it HARD to register to get the ID to register to vote. And that is WHY people do not support them. Because if you make it expensive and difficult, then you automatically suppress and marginalize the voters who would normally vote Democrat. Then you can shout from the rooftop, "What? All we were trying to do was stop voter fraud!"

There are DMVs all over the freaking place. In some states the laws say you can get an voter ID for free if you have a hardship. But seriously, $20?

Old Tico voter, oldest in his town, photo ID in hand. Obviously, Costa Rica is run by evil Rethuglican black white thinkers putting an ominous burden on the poor Democrats and old people.

In Costa Rica you have to dip your finger in indelible ink, proving you've voted, and can't vote again.

Well, then, BlueSapphire - shouldn't you and your comrades be lobbying for cheaper and easier registration rules -

rather than lobbying AGAINST voter registration?

Why aren't the republicans also lobbying for such James? Shouldn't they TOO be worried about disenfranchising voters? Or is that simply a democratic issue?

Registration is a piece of cake in Florida. You can do it online without ever getting your fat ass out of your chair. The form is even available in Spanish.

My wife walked out of the government offices after she gave her oath of citizenship a couple of years ago, and the entire sidewalk around the entrance was plastered with ACORN groups with voter registration forms for the new citizens. She filled out her form and party ID right there, and they never bothered to register it! She had to register again because they never bothered to send the form in.

    Guess why?

Because we figure our voters can stand up for themselves and pay 20 bucks for a valid ID - which they need anyway to drive a car or get a job.

I see. And that is the difference between you and me James. You can simply dismiss voters because they don't got it like you. The sick, the elderly and the poor. Okay, at least you admit it. Why do Republicans think they only serve republicans? Do they not also serve democrats? Yes they belong to a party, but once in office, should they not be concerned with the entire population? I guess not. They aren't worried about their vote, why would they worry about their lives.

Good gawd - you really don't get my sense of humor, do you?

When they come around knocking before elections I serve democrats to my dogs for dinner.
