A Woman, A Woman - Oh What Can She Be?

I have read many, many experiences of those on this forum who were teenagers in the 60's and are very bitter about making a decision to get baptized as a child.

Ummmm... wait, dear MG (again, peace to you!): they made a decision. Probably one no one could talk them out of. Based on what they knew/understood/believed at the time. So, they regret it now. How many made the same decision and DON'T regret it? Should NO young person be ALLOWED to get baptized because SOME regret it? What of those who got baptized at, say, 30... and now regret it?

People make all kinds of choices... throughout their lives. Some they regret, some they don't. Some who marry young eventually regret it; some don't. Some who marry OLD... eventually regret it; some don't. So what? Some people get their license when they're young... and end up dying in accidents. Surely, they parents regret letting them get a license, let alone drive. Surely, that child, if he/she had it to do all over again... would wait to get their license/drive? Right? Sure... But if your argument is correct, we should prohibit ALL young people from getting their licenses/driving.

Some women have children young... and eventually regret it; some don't (I absolutely didn't and don't, and yeah, I had mine very young - and they have been the JOY of my life for more than 30 years!). Some wait and have them older... and eventually regret it (because they're just too tired to deal by that time). Should women just stop having children... young AND olders... because SOME regret it?

How is the decision to get baptized as a teenager any different from making a decision to get married as a teenager...

For some, it is quite different. Some find it easier to walk away from a marriage than from God. Most JWs, however, find it easier to walk away from God... than from a marriage. Because, based on the WTBTS teachings, they're not marrying God; heck, they're not even in the New Covenant - Christ is not THEIR mediator, so... they're not really walking away from God... are they?

Again, your position on this specific matter (the OP's marriage)... at THIS point in time... is utterly ridiculous. No, I don't expect you to see that... but, trust me: it is.

Again, peace to you... and I do mean that. Peace... such that you move your mind past this matter... that really is and should be of no concern to YOU... because the "little girl"... is all grown up, a mother/grandmother/great grandmother... and nothing your rant speaks to can/will change that. So, really, what is the POINT? There is none... so... let... it... go... and regain YOUR peace of mind!

YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,

    SA

@ AGuest Peace to you Don't forget to report devil fish as well when you go tattling. I see I have touched a nerve. No I don't expect Lonewolf to leave his wife. What I do expect is for him to realize it is not normal for an 18 year old man to date a 13 year old girl and then marry her when she is 15. I found his post about a "freckled face girl" he wanted to make "his woman" extremely offensive and disturbing. It was NOT normal for 15 year old girls to marry 50 years ago.The facts/statistics show this. The fact that there are laws today about 18 year old men dating 13 year old girls I think speaks for itself. I have a feeling you are older and I know I am just a young bitch yada yada yada. I know Lonewolf was a "gentleman" when he first saw this his wife's oldest sister had gotten married, the second oldest was not available and moved down the line accordingly. I know he was a "gentleman" when he accused me of being promiscuous. I know he was being a "gentleman" when he decided the only purpose in life for a 15 year old was to be a wife and mother. I know he is an older "gentleman" and such a victim by meanie me. Yada Yada Yada.

I am done with this thread. The last thing I am going to say is it is such a miracle that I, as a young woman, made it through life not turning to a life of prostitution back when I was a 15 year old girl or not turning to drugs since I didn't get married. It is a miracle that I bought my own car while in high school, graduated high school, found a man as an ADULT that I loved and wanted to marry, had a family and have a very successful career. Pity, to think how much better my life would have been if all my schoolgirl crushes had take advantage of me......or better yet if I would have taken a 13 year old boy seriously as an 18 year old woman when he proclaimed his love for me......

    Good day.

Where you are mistaken meangirl is accusing him of deciding for his love interest that to marry him and have children was her only purpose in life. Nobody said that and nobody but you read it.

    @ N.Drew you said:

"Where you are mistaken meangirl is accusing him of deciding for his love interest that to marry him and have children was her only purpose in life. Nobody said that and nobody but you read it. "

Its a bit like interpreting the bible...isn't it?

I read in that sentence that his 'primary goal' is.....to make his wife happy...

You read that his 'primary goal' is to marry a freckle-faced girl....

    Thats quite interesting

    Then Lonewolf wrote:

"She blossomed far beyond anything that I expected, and I was enthralled with the results."

Results? Perhaps from his primary goal of having her find fulfillment in her ROLE of WIFE and MOTHER.

@ Still thinking just to clarify no I didn't read that his primary goal was to marry the freckle face girl but rather he wrote:

"One of my primary goals when I married this little freckle-faced girl was to do all I knew how to be sure that she could find joy and happiness in her role of wife and mother."

I read his primary goal was to do all he knew how to be sure that she could joy and happiness in her role of wife and mother.
