Its like debating how Harry Potter must have felt when he won his first game of quidditch.

Its all fiction, it means whatever the reader wants it to mean. Theology is a non-subject.

    "It's all fiction"

    Genesis 6:6

"The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart"

I think you are sharing truth Mr. Cofty.

    Your not laughing

    No - not laughing.

@Nancy: Account number one has no tree of either life or knowledge. Why? There was no history yet. It isn't rocket science, you know. It is?

I dont think that is how it was. In account number one, they are free to eat from every tree in the garden except the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil"

account number two state after they had eaten of the "good/evil tree" they were barred from eating of the "tree of life"

Thanks, but I don't think she is going to be persuaded, bioflex.

As I pointed out earlier, they could not have been the same tree because they were prohibited from eating from one, but they had to eat from the other in order to have "everlasting life".

It is Jewish myth, pure and simple - a primative attempt to explain mortality.

I always thought that the standard interpretation of the story was that the serpent tempted eve and got her to eat it while Adam was NOT there.
She told him later, and induced him to eat it too

Yeah I was taught that in Sunday school too. But there's no basis for it.

    Genesis 3: 6

She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, he ate it.

    Peace,

But Tammy, did you ever consider that he was only with her when she gave it to him - not when the serpent gave it to her?

    Oh - never mind.

Like I told N.Drew - it is all Jewish mythology anyway; just make up whatever you want from it. That is the only thing it is good for.

Why say that bioflex? I wondered why there were two accounts of man's creation.

    Account #1 Genesis 1:26-31

    Account #2 Genesis 2:4-25

There is no restriction mentioned in Genesis 1:26-31

We can surely learn from mythology, don't you know?

Um... for her to give it to him, doesn't that kind of make him 'with her'? The statement is redundant if unless it is describing that he was with her during during that whole scene.

This is one of the reasons that I wanted to read the bible... so I could see where all of these church teachings come from, and hopefully NOT be misled.

    Peace,

    Tammy
