I'm a better person then when I was a JW. Well at least I think so, i'm sure they think I became a satanic apostate. I'm happier, don't judge others and work at enjoying and living life.
Sooo Armageddon comes....

1968 "The immediate future is certain to be filled with climatic events, for this old system is nearing its complete end. Within a few years at most the final parts of Bible prophecy relative to these last days will undergo fulfilment resulting in the liberation of surviving mankind into Christ's glorious 1000 year reign!" (Watchtower, 1/5/1968)
Imagine how many people who read those words in 1968 are now buried in cemetaries across the globe.
Imagine how many 17-year-olds read those words and decided not pursue and education that could have benefited them financially for a lifetime.
Imagine how many wives decided not to have children, because they end was so close.

somehow i get the feeling that this is a question that a lot of people have doubts about...and may even be scared to face
You seem to be the one scared of Armageddon. Most people who have commented don't express any belief in it at all. You are making a lot of assumptions on this thread, and most of them are completely wrong.

1969 "There is only a short time left before Jehovah will destroy this wicked system of things." (Watchtower, Jan. 15, 1969)
1971 "Shortly, within our twentieth century, the "battle in the day of Jehovah" will begin against the modern antitype of Jerusalem, Christendom." (The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah; 1971; 2nd ed.; p. 216)
1974 "Yes, the end of this system is so very near! Is that not reason to increase our activity?...Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end." (Kingdom Ministry, May 1974, p. 3)

Sounds like you're projecting. You may have that fear but that doesn't mean we do or at least I do.

!F anybody has to be punished i would say it's the leaders...i know that God wouldn't judge a whole organization but persons individually..
The ONLY "sin" of man that Jesus vigorously condemned... was hypocrisy.
Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie . And in the original Greek, hypocrite is defined as "actor." Actors pretend to be someone else entirely. -

yeah but it can't be denied--no doubt we're seeing the fulfillment of Jesus prophecy about the last days...so the Bible has some merit!
Let me add some fule to the fire here.
If you read a bit on language abuse, you will find that the sentence above, delibarately or by chance, is a fine specimen.
