Exactly. Right along the same lines of helpless people not knowing that there is a DMV and that they issue ID only cards. Illegal immigrants have been pet parakeets of the left for some time now. They keep them in cages and show them to everyone, with ready and approved conclusions already drawn up. They get a two-for-one deal with illegals. They want (and get) their illegal votes, and they get to play the race card on the Republicans at the same time. I've never seen a party so obsessed with race as the US Democratic Party.
Illegal immigrant applies to be admitted to the Florida Bar!

I hope so. It would be very disappointing if the Dems abandoned all principles of fairness and just screwed people the way the GOP wants.
Someone has to fight for Medicaire and public health. Child labor laws. Lord knows it was not the GOP.

I think he has someone higher up protecting him.
And so it begins.

And so it begins.
And so what begins? A legitimate person who wanted to be admitted to the bar would have applied for citizenship.
A person who wanted to make a test case for illegals to be admitted to the bar would have done exactly what this person did.
To do what this person did, he would have to have support from the law school, the ACLU, or SOMEBODY...

BOTR - WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???
Are you actually saying that it is UNFAIR for the Florida Bar to deny bar admittance to an ILLEGAL ALIEN???

I agree with Moshe 100%. Those of you who think that everything is ok with illegals and any other liberal cause that hurts the majority in this country are just hastening the downfall of what this country once was. Eventually we will be a third world country and then lets see how you feel!

I don't see national status as that important. Good people can be other than native Americans. I don't see a problem unless he directly lied on a law school admissions form. Frankly, they don't make you sign affidavits or anything stronger the way the US govt does. Someone always has to be in the forefront of challenging laws.
It can take twenty years or more to build momentum. I don't see an essential link between the job of being a lawyer, the knowledge and skills needed, and citizenship. The president natural citizenship provision is present b/c many feared Alexander Hamilton's power. It is very curious to have it in a nation that became a nation of immigrants. The only people who are truly natural are Native Americans.
How would his citizenship status interfere with practicing law? How would being gay or black or female be an obstacle to being a lawyer? All these restrictions existed and were legal at one point in time.
This is not that newsworthy. It is no big scandal. The newspaper could not even interview a law school official. If he lied brazenly to the law school, knowing he would not be admitted if he told the truth, an issue may be raised. Slavery was perfectly legal. It doesn't make it right. Women could not hold property or establish credit in their own names. Women could not vote. Black people could not vote.
I want a lawyer who knows the subject matter and has tangible skills, such as negotiating and legal drafting. It doesn't matter to me where they were born. Look- an illegal alien finished law school and presumably a hard bar exam. If being an illegal alien was impossible to practice law, he should have naturally flunked out. The difference between illegal alien and undocumented worker is activism and education.

Well, I am appalled.
You think it is OK for a person to practice law in the U.S. when he obviously does not know (or does not care to obey) immigration LAW.
Unbelievable.

I hope the Florida Supreme Court denies his application. He can use his law degree to do something else (non-profit work, etc.), but he should never be allowed to practice law.
He is thumbing his nose at everything the law stands for, and if his application is approved, it will be a slap in the face to those who are seeking citizenship through normal channels.
Semper: he could circumvent the law school application process because they ask for any citations and the dispositions thereof. If he was never "cited" for being illegal, he technically would not have to disclose.
I completely disagree with BOTR. I want a lawyer with good skills AND credibility and integrity...one who respects the law by keeping the law.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the new trend in law school; my school, in its infinite wisdom, has accepted a convicted felon (multiple armed bank robberies), AND given him a free ride scholarship! When schools do this kind of crap, it shows great disrespect to all the students who played by the rules.
