I have no idea what law school you are attending. My law school continues to be in the top tier. We were taught legal concepts and social justice, besides black letter law. It was illegal to help slaves escape. Do you recall the Fugitive Slave Act? It was illegal for women to use birth control? See Griswold v. Connecticut and Roe v. Wade.
This nation is great b/c we have had always had a vanguard pushing for improved conditions.
I repeat my assertion that only outrage was posted. Shun me. I don't care. Competence should count. No one knows his circumstances except the individual and the relevant bar committee. The state bar officials are competent to decide what to do. I view it as a state matter since states have always regulated lawyers.
No one here knows how old he was and what the circumstances were. Also, no one here knows what this person wrote in his supporting documents and law school application.
There is a reason we study case law in law school rather than read Restatements of Law or Corpus Juris Secondum. Facts matter. Change the facts and the result often changes. I was taught this my very first day of law school.
Thank goodness this will be determined by people with the competence to do so and not some folks on JW Net, a forum where people primarily disscuss Jehovah's Witnesses, not legal ethics or bar admissions practices.
There are laws I would break with great pride. "Good Germans" watched Holocaust victims go to death camps. Not all laws are just or legitimate. I am a New Yorker more than anything else. Yes, many laws should be broken.
I refuse to read legal briefs unless I am retained and paid a hefty fee.
My mother was expelled from school at age fourteen b/c of flag salute. Her mother would have killed her if she saluted the flag. The law saw fit that her mother should hang around the house while my mother was on the street, trying to get any kind of work, during the Great Depression. Thus was born my interest in civil rights.
