Man, it's totally exhausting with all these people hearing the voice of a loving god telling us all they are right, the others are wrong, vipers, etc..
At least they all agree we are all gonna burn in hell. It's nice to find some commoin ground when arguing about whose right about the voices they hear.
If we do hear different things that we talk about it like adults and not what Myelaine does and condemn everyone to hell :S If I read anything I disagree with I just go to Christ and He explains it. It's really that simple. Can't say I have ever fallen out with another body member. Now Myelaine on the other hand with her viper tongue :S Had emails and all sorts off her saying I worship the devil nad i'm not a Christian and my faith is all wrong blah blah blah.
Tammy knows what she believes and so does Myelaine. Although I think Myelaine is a Catholic and me no likey religion! But that's a whole other thread. ;)

Is myelaine not following christ? Who are you to say? Can you prove she isn't? Any more than you can prove Thor, Vishnu, Isis or any other god is not real or what they might say to someone.
And whether believers words are couched in love of not...the message in the end is the same...we either follow your god or what? Too easy so say it's not up to you and that is up to god or whatever avoidance terminolgy is used. What happens to me if I say your god is a load of crap? Do I still get to go to heaven or whatever your particular reward is or will I be destroyed? Or hasn't your god explained that to you yet?
Personally, I don't see catholic belief any differently than any other belief....it's all belief...and delusion.

This is a curious statement. No one other than Myelaine thinks that you are gonna burn in hell. Not Shelby, not tec, not WS, not Noblelodge, not Justmom... not sure why you think otherwise. You aren't listening to any of the other posters if you do think otherwise.

The only people my God consumes in fire are those who specifically ride out against those who belong to Him... to destroy those He has promised to protect.
One does not have to know Christ (or think that they do not) in order for Him to know YOU... by the love that is within you, by the mercy you show to others, by the forgiveness you grant to others, etc, etc. That you do by nature the things required by the law (such as His teachings, love, mercy, forgiveness, etc, etc... there are those invited into the kingdom who did not know they would belong to Him; consequently, there are those who think they know and belong to Him, but He will say to them that He never knew them)

cantleave, I especially like your pictures illustrating Biblical licence to do just whatever cruel thing you can justify from the Bible. Very telling.

ElderE, fellow-Thor-follower that you are, I'm not too sure about you getting personal messages from him. I've been meaning to express concern about this before. Is it a voice like thunder? Or an inner knowing? The latter's OK, we are all entitled to that, but if you have a voice like thunder in your head....could it be ear-wax?

As for everything else, seriously...cofty, great posts, by the way! To me, it seems increasingly obvious, as I reflect after my misguideed adventures with the Watchtower, that the Bible is a collection of ancient histories, many probably fairly accurate historically speaking, of one particular group of desert wanderers. They not only thought, as people will, about how they came to be there as a people, but they created a very early set of written records of what the vocal tradtion was handing down. And they added in their own laws and how they felt they had come to be, and weight was added to the laws by having them come from the one and only God.
That's OK, from their point of view, this small group of people out there in the Middle East. It held them together, amongst all the many other peoples even in that area.
The trouble with this though is that it's just one story. Other people's all over the world developed their own Creation stories and developed them as ideologies and from them created codes for living in each particular society.
I absolutely no longer believe that the Bible is the source of all truth, that's if I ever did. However, I don't count myself a non-believer because I do believe in a spiiritual dimension, and I think there probably is a deep underlying spiritual truth. But I don't the it is conclusively contained within the Bible, and that every religion in the world will contain some element of it.

Christians have this annoying habit of talking in metaphor while pretending they are saying something. It was something I found so frusrating when I was a christian and still do.

To be honest I don't care what people belive in... I have close friends who are theists, mediums, athiests etc... I'm their friend, i'm not out to ''convert'' them.

OMG! Seriously you need to start reading our post's... No where has myself, Tam, Shelby, NL, JM posted about a hell... It doesn't exist.... I get the feeling you want to be told you will be burnt in hell, just so you can remain obnoxious.

Well charlie, it was you who exained to me how to talk to the Thunderer :-) go to a high place, like a moutain top, beat a drum and dream beer until Thor talks to you.... Works really well! Thor and i have had some great coversations recently. Hes very down to earth.

There's a new leech king of the jungle.
The new species—dubbed Tyrannobdella rex, or "tyrant leech king"—was discovered in the remote Peruvian Amazon, according to a new study.
Puzzling scientists from the start, the up-to-three-inch-long (about seven-centimeter-long) bloodsucker has large teeth, like its dinosaur namesake Tyrannosaurus rex.
The T. rex leech uses its teeth to saw into the tissues of mammals' orifices, including eyes, urethras, rectums, and vaginas.
What's more, the newfound critter's "naughty bits are rather small," said study co-author Mark Siddall, curator of invertebrate zoology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
Most leech genitalia account for large proportions of their bodies, which "makes sense, because your reproductive success is important," he said. But for a reason still unknown, the new species' genitalia are only about half a millimeter long—smaller than their nerve cords and only a tenth the size of most leech privates.
