go ahead, ignore my replies ... I'm fine with that.

Who are you talking to me or James? which reply has been ignored? Do you mean the one where you called Diana's death a conspiracy, I think you have edited it. Have you withdrawn it?

As I said don't confuse Harry's childish parody with sympathy.

And, yeah, your republic did ban Christmas. What about that?

    My standard response has been:

Henry VIII had 72000 people executed. Mostly because they did not celebrate Christmas the way he wanted them to.

lol, yes I read that just now about Diana. I am NOT a big Diana fan, but think the circumstance of her death is suspicious.

Cromwell blew up my local priory by the way from the top of a hill a hundred yards from my house. Just an offtopic comment.

talesin, Harry was about 17 when that happened. I agree with Cofty that it was a completely moronic thing to do - but sadly many 17 year olds do moronic things, and I'm sure he winces with embarrassment when he looks back on that incident now. You certainly can't call him a Nazi for an ill-advised prank as a teenager.

Don't get me wrong - you're Canadian, and I'm intrigued as to your views of the monarchy. However, surely scrutinizing the behavior of teenage royals is going a bit far when it comes to making trenchant and meaningful observations about the merits or negatives of having a Canadian monarch? The guy's 28 now and, I'm sure, far more mature after his spells in Afghanistan, etc. Furthermore, barring a very unlikely chain of catastrophic events, he will never be your King. It would be a shame to paint him as a Nazi for the rest of his life for one thoughtless teenage prank.

I'm sure the Queen will remain in office until her death.

Can I just remind everybody - Sulla in particular - that the Brittish monarch has no actual power. We live in a Parliamentary Democracy.

cedars. Welcome back. Read the blog. Very interesting.

I think Tal and I were not suggesting Hewitt Jr. is actually a Nazi, but rather that if a strong argument for a royal family is that they produce heads of state that will act in diplomatic ways that others would not they have not been doing a very good job. I would actually argue that it is unfair to expect this of any human being, let alone a youngster, who have no real choice in the matter. Which is another reason to scrap the monarchy. No one should be born with that burden on them - especially if they just don't have those skills.

talesin - you are confusing me. You asserted Diana's death was not an accident - now you don't seem sure enough to spell it out. Why not? Were you just trawling the internet for anti-royalty stuff?

Harry's teenage prank is hardly an argument against monarchy.

Again I ask you what reply of yours have we ignored?
